RESUMO A partir da constatação de que a adoração pública em muitas igrejas batistas no Brasil contemporâneo se transformou no “culto do eu”, tal inquietação nos conduziu ao desenvolvimento da defesa da presente tese em torno da possibilidade e necessidade da pregação expositiva teodramática como norteadora do culto público no ambiente batista brasileiro para a manutenção da identidade cristã. Usaremos a linguagem “culto terapêutico”, adotada por Philip Rieff. Como resposta ao drama da adoração nesse contexto, trataremos da análise da mediação do Filho de Deus, que cumpriu e aperfeiçoou o triplo ofício de profeta, sacerdote e rei, e argumentamos que a exposição bíblica teodramática é a melhor maneira de conectar os ouvintes ao drama da redenção na adoração pública, de modo que, embora se vejam como participantes, possam ser constantemente lembrados dos termos da aliança do protagonismo trinitariano. A exposição bíblica teodramática, como parte da adoração pública, é o meio eficaz de levar o ouvinte à identidade na centralidade de Cristo, para que Deus seja glorificado no culto e na vida. A exposição bíblica teodramática faz jus aos aspectos formadores da identidade cristã na dinâmica litúrgica batista no Brasil, fazendo com que a adoração pública seja firmada na metanarrativa (reabilitando a essencialidade prática da doutrina) e não nas narrativas dos ouvintes. Nessa dinâmica, a exposição bíblica teodramática (e seus princípios adjacentes), pode ser defendida mais do que um método homilético dentro do processo litúrgico, mas como o meio possível e necessário para que as Igrejas Batistas no Brasil (muitas delas) vençam a tensão que há na adoração pública atual: identidade coletiva (metanarrativa redentiva – o mundo como palco da glória de Deus) e identidade individualista (narrativa pós-moderna do culto do “eu”). Defenderemos a necessidade da exposição bíblica teodramática no contexto protestante batista brasileiro pós-moderno, mas de modo dramático, usando os recursos da abordagem canônico-linguística, abordando ao final um diálogo e monólogo da pregação cristã trinitariana na adoração pública, com a delimitação da autoridade canônica. João Calvino contará com Kevin Vanhoozer para nos ajudar a clarear o seu pensamento para a pós-modernidade e para nos mostrar toda a dimensão que envolve a adoração cristã: a comunicação do Deus Trino é interativa; Ele deseja santificar seu povo, mas de modo dramático, desenvolvendo sua fala, ação e interação; o seu povo responde com uma adoração viva diante da vivacidade triuna. ABSTRACT Based on the observation that public worship in many Baptist churches in contemporary Brazil has become the “cult of the self”, this concern has led us to develop the defense of the present thesis around the possibility and the need for theodramatic expository preaching as a guideline for public worship in the Brazilian Baptist environment for the maintenance of Christian identity. We will use the language “therapeutic worship”, adopted by Philip Rieff. In response to the drama of worship in this context, we will deal with the analysis of the mediation of the Son of God, who fulfilled and perfected the triple office of prophet, priest and king, and we argue that the biblical theodramatic exposition is the best way to connect listeners to the drama of redemption in public worship, so that, although they see themselves as participants, they can be constantly reminded of the terms of the Trinitarian protagonism covenant. Theodramatic biblical exposition, as part of public worship, is an effective means of leading the listener to the identity in the centrality of Christ, so that God may be glorified in worship and in life. The biblical theodramatic exhibition lives up to the formative aspects of Christian identity in the Baptist liturgical dynamic in Brazil, making public worship rooted firmly in the metanarrative (rehabilitating the practical essentiality of the doctrine) and not in the narratives of the listeners. In this dynamic, the biblical theodramatic exposition (and its underlying principles), can be defended more than a homiletical method within the liturgical process, but as the possible and necessary way for the Baptist Churches in Brazil (many of them) to overcome the tension that there is in current public worship: collective identity (redemptive metanarrative - the world as the stage of God's glory) and individualistic identity (postmodern narrative of the “I” worship). We will defend the need for the biblical theodramatic exposition in the postmodern Brazilian Baptist Protestant context, but in a dramatic way, using the resources of the canonical-linguistic approach, addressing at the end a dialogue and monologue of Trinitarian Christian preaching in public worship, with the delimitation of canonical authority. John Calvin will have Kevin Vanhoozer to help us clarify his thinking for postmodernity and to show us the whole dimension that involves Christian worship: the communication of the Triune God is interactive; He wants to sanctify his people, but in a dramatic way, developing his speech, action and interaction; his people respond with lively adoration in the face of the triune vivacity.     A Pastoral Note About My Doctoral Project I am glad you are interested in reading my dissertation. Given that it took a fair amount of effort and my passion for the subject matter, I am happy to share it with church members and friends. Please allow me to introduce you to the project by saying just a few things. If you ask someone what Covenant Theology is and if it is a good or bad thing, you will likely hear lots of different answers. It is fairly common for evangelicals to respond by either saying they do not know what Covenant Theology is or by describing it as something unbiblical and relating to a particular view regarding millennialism, baptism, or Israel. There are three major problems with such responses. First, classic Covenant Theology is essentially concerned with matters of sin and salvation, not something else. Second, the biblical support for such things as the federal headship of Adam and Jesus is strong (federal being from the Latin foedus meaning covenant). Third, when Covenant Theology is rejected, justification by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone is at best in serious jeopardy. My dissertation is a promotion and defense of classic Covenant Theology. I have written out of a pastoral passion to help people understand human history federally/covenantally just as the Apostle Paul did as he wrote inspired Scripture (see Romans 5:12-21). Likewise, I have written in order to demonstrate the vital connection between Covenant Theology and justification by faith alone, the doctrine that is so commonly compromised by rejecters of the federal perspective.
