13. Innovations and Best Practices

Our college has to best practices that are:

1. Pre Training competitive Examination (PTCE)

2. Development of Greenery in college campus. Objective of practice:

Govt. Degree College Anjad is located in the most tribal populated area of Madhya Pradesh. The economic status of the population is very miserable due to uneven terrain and infertile soils where as agriculture is the prime business of the people. A large number of tribal students used to appear in different competitive examination every year, but their selections are very few because of insufficient career guidance and low economic resources of the applicants. The present is the time of competitions in both the sectors i.e. public and private sectors. It is very difficult for tribal student to go in big cities of the state to attend job oriented coachings and trainings because they can‘t afford it. To introduce “The Pre Training Competitive Examination” is one of the efforts of the college which have been undertaken during the quality year (2011-12) and the Quality Extension year (2012-13)

Greenery means to a way of life to contribute towards maintain the natural ecological balance in the environment. Greenery may help in

(i) Reducing pollution

(ii) Conserving natural resources

(iii) Contributing to conservation of forest and wild life

(iv) Plantation of plants in vacant land.

Keeping this in mind the best practice “Development of Greenery of College Campus” has been selected. Development of Greenery of College Campus is providing more comfortable environment for students as well as teaching and non teaching staff and also aims to promote environmental education and global conservation to make the world a better place. With the Development of Greenery of College Campus, we can look forward to a cleaner and more beautiful environment relatively free of pol lution with better quality of air which help students, teaching and non teaching staff to work more efficiently. Keeping all these facts in mind in college campus beautiful trees and plants will be planted in selected areas and also try to develop green garden or ecofriendly garden with beautiful flowering plants. Outcome of this best practice will provide better quality environment in campus with pollution free air. College has experience of developing greenery in campus and also in garden.

14. SWOC Analysis (strength , weaknesses, Opportunity and Challenges

Strengths: Caters to the Education needs of the local population of category ST/SC/OBC. The college has a dedicated teaching & non-teaching staff who are managing the Institution against all odds. Institutional Social Commitments are fulfilled through active participation in Outreach activities under piloting of NSS. Teachers regularly participate in seminars, workshops and conferences to get updated on the changing trends in education and related areas. The principal personally interacts with the students of each department in regular manner to get their problems and solve (if any found). The principal seeks advice from guardians, students, local socialites, employers regarding betterment of teaching and learning quality during interaction with them, which is organized on regular basis. Women harassment and ragging free campus.

Weaknesses: Acute shortage of permanent teaching and non-teaching staff. No appointment has been done since last 10 years.

Due to non-availability of dedicated Examination hall classes are adversely affected during examination period. There is a need of more vocational and Add-on courses and better placement opportunities in the college. The college needs more autonomy and financial support in order to develop with good pace . Transport facility lacking. Poor communication of English language There is ample scope for technical /vocational courses to be started in the college soas to make it a better center of learning & placement. There are ample opportunities to incorporate ICT & E-learning and other modern methods of education. Ample scope for starting more post graduate and research programmes as a good number of teachers posses research degrees. UGC offering number of grants. Open door policy – Decentralization of duties. Challenges: Improve upon communication skill and develop global competencies especially among our rural based students. Efforts to pull out/change mind set of conservative parents and students.. To increase student-teacher ratio so that infrastructure is completely and effectively utilized. Poor schooling of the students and lack of basic knowledge about the subjects create problem in progress of the curriculum. Encouraging research attitude among faculty and students. To develop ICT skill among students.
