Many thanks to all our dedicated coaches, managers and trainers; with a special mention to grand final winning coaches, Andy Gilmore, John Metcalfe/Adam Garvey, and Wes Phillips. All of our teams, from the U6 to 1st grade played the game in the proper spirit and showed considerable improvement throughout the year. Many thanks must go to all the coaches and the support staff for their unwavering enthusiasm. A great club like ours cannot function without the support of its members, life members, and supporters. Thanks to all of you who help where they can and for the encouragement they give to our players. A special thank you must go to our hardworking committee and ladies committee, who go out of their way to make sure all the game day and behind the scenes things are in place so the kids can have a great day playing their favourite sport. In particular, I would like to thank Bill, David and Michelle who have worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth running of our club. A great deal of hard work during the off season resulted in our club having 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade. We would not have had such success without the hard work of the senior side retention committee. The driving forces behind this committee were Greg Bird, Brett Rogers, Steve Ebb, Corey Markham, Aaron Palmer and Shane Newton. Thanks to you folks and other helpers along the way, we had a highly successful year and have built the base for many years to come. Without the referees and the Junior League we would not be able to participate in such a well organised and managed competition, so on behalf of the entire Dragons family, I would like to thank both organisations for their hard work and dedication. On behalf of the committee i would like to congratulate all the award winners, with a special mention to the senior and junior club champions, team of the year, coach of the year, sportsman of the year, Grahame Kidd memorial, Gary Cannings memorial, outstanding team, and the two major club award winners. Well done to you all. The Dragons are a force to be reckoned with both on and off the field. We have great players, hard working volunteers, loyal supporters and a constantly growing family. It is a great club with a proud history and i thank you all for being a part of it. Grahame wagener President SECRETARY'S REPORT Well, what a great year for the Engadine Dragons. Our club fielded thirty two teams, thirteen of which went into the finals, six into the Grand Final, with the 9C’s, 10B’s and 1st Grade being crowned Premiers 2014. Those teams were fortunate enough to play their Grand Final on Remondis Stadium, and we thank Junior League and the Sharks club for making that happen. I have no doubt it’s something the boys will never forget and hope it becomes a regular occurrence. A big congratulation to all our players for the way they conducted themselves throughout the year, whether it be on or off the field, as they make the Club proud, irrespective of where they ended up on the ladder at the end of the year. Huge thanks to our hard working Committee for their work throughout the year. The work they do on Pub Raffles, Ground duty and manning the BBQ on game days is invaluable and ensures the smooth running of the club. The Dragon Ladies Committee once again proved to be a huge asset by organising fundraising towards the Junior Presentation through the Trivia Night and Freddo frog fundraising. This is a great group of ladies and I would encourage anyone to join. Thank you to Grahame Wagener and Bill Kemp for their guidance and never ending loyalty in my first year in the job. We had fun at the Sportsmen’s lunch; Trivia night and the Junior League Ball where we were fortunate enough to have the beautiful Kelsey Bird represent our club as Miss Engadine Dragons. Thanks to all the Managers for organising their teams and passing on all information to keep parents informed. Thanks to every Coach for not only volunteering their time to train our boys and girls in the skills of League, but instilling in them a sense of mateship, loyalty and fair play. My biggest thanks go to the Parents for their contributions to the club in time, effort, and fundraising. We had a great year and look forward to bigger and better things in 2015. I nearly always think about him when the Bulldogs are set to take on Parramatta. There isn’t a year goes I by when I don’t have at least one conversation about this player who, on one fateful September day in 1998, saw his career come to an end. He set a new benchmark for horrid individual performances on a rugby league fi eld. Now, to give Carige’s performance context, it is important to understand the simmering hatred between Canterbury and Parramatta at the time. The Bulldogs and Eels were wild rivals in the 1980s but that was an enmity built out of style and the pursuit of superiority rather than any underlying natural disposition of dislike between the two outfi ts. These days, the rivalry remains strong but it is a very one-sided deal with little respect given to the Eels by the Bulldogs faithful. But, in the 1990s, the feud was hot – the hottest feud in the game.
