We hope you have a pleasant stay with us along with the referee Gavin Muge and his Beaconsfi eld Town assistants Jack Hobbs and John Perry. An interesting comment came when we recently Honorary President turned the clocks back an hour. Someone suggested Dave Piercy turning football back to 1991. This was shortly after Chairman Arsenal won the old Division One title in 1989 when it was Chris Coyle literally decided on the fi nal match of the season. The Vice-Chairman Gunners had to face Liverpool who were in pole position Steve Sweetlove but Arsenal had the chance to pip them to the title if they could clinch victory by a certain number of goals. Directors Frank Abe Robin Woolman The rest is history as they say but it is now the subject of a fi lm documentary including interviews from Lee Club Secretary Dixon, Tony Adams and the scorer the all-important goal Robin Woolman Michael Thomas. Grassroots Publications FROM THE BENCH Welcome to the Marlow players and their manager Mark Bartley along with their supporters for this Evo-Stik League South, East fi xture. Since my last notes we have been to Arlesey Town and Bedford Town and picked up maximum points. These victories were very pleasing as they were contrasting performances. Against a resolute Arlesey we had to be patient to break them down and stay focussed to not concede on the counter attack. Although we didn’t play particularly well, I thought we did enough to deserve the victory, albeit very late. Against Bedford I felt that the fi rst half was one of the best team displays we have given this season and with better fi nishing we would have been out of sight at half-time.
