Modelsofpride.Org
modelsofpride.org | 1 WELCOME TO THE 25TH ANNUAL MODELS OF PRIDE CONFERENCE! 25 years ago, this conference was started by a small group of visionaries who believed LGBTQ youth needed a safe, supportive place to connect with each other and be inspired by role models who had gone before them. The first conference, sponsored by a commission of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s Commission on LGBT Rights, was held in 1993 at Occidental College, with about 60 youth in attendance. Today, we expect over 1,500 youth at Models of Pride and over 350 participants in the Parent and Professional Institute. We have much to celebrate. As we gather today in our opening session, we will celebrate the people who had the vision to start this conference, those who put in the time, energy and work to take an idea and make it a reality. And we will honor the two women who are credited with taking that original idea and keeping it going for the following 17 years – Virginia Uribe and Gail Rolf. Our hope for our time together is that each of you would be inspired by these visionary leaders to take the ideas, dreams and visions you have and put in the work to make them a reality. Our conference theme is: Together We Rise. We chose this theme because, in the midst of the daunting and scary political times we are living in, we want to acknowledge that, as a community, we are strong and powerful and resilient. Our community has overcome tremendous challenges, and, if we work together, we will triumph and rise above Ready to talk? our current adversaries and obstacles. -

For more detailed factual information, and in-depth competition statistics, please refer to the matchweek press kit, which can be downloaded at: http://www.uefa.com/uefa/mediaservices/presskits/index.html Match background Group A is the only section in which both qualifying places have still to be decided and even though AS Roma go into the final fixture with a single-point advantage at the top, they know they will probably have to avoid defeat in the Stadio Olimpico to ensure they go through to the knockout rounds. For FC Girondins de Bordeaux the situation is clear: they have to win or their European adventure will continue in the UEFA Cup as third-placed finishers. • The Italian side progressed to their elevated position thanks to a clinical 3-1 victory in Transylvania which also ended CFR 1907 Cluj's hopes of progressing. The damage was done inside the opening 23 minutes. Matteo Brighi struck the opener, his first UEFA Champions League goal, before Francesco Totti doubled the lead with a free-kick. Yssouf Koné headed in from close range for the home team but Brighi struck again after 64 minutes to put the result beyond doubt. -

Frontier Economics Bulletin Water Energy Environment Retailing Transport Financial services Healthcare Telecoms Media Post Competition policy Policy analysis and design Regulation Strategy Contract design and evaluation Dispute support services Market design and auctions FEBRUARY 2014 Is Bale the Real deal? THE VALUE OF TOP FOOTBALL PLAYERS The 2013 summer transfer window saw Gareth Bale become the most expensive football player in the world, when he left Tottenham Hotspur for Real Madrid – for a record fee of more than £80m. An analysis of player valuations conducted by Frontier suggests that – even at the time of the deal – Bale’s footballing skills were worth just £66m. So did Real Madrid pay too much for its latest “Galáctico” – or wasn’t it all about the game? Football has long dominated the sports pages of European newspapers, but these days it can increasingly be found in the business pages as well. Europe’s largest clubs are collectively worth billions. Some, such as Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund, are now publicly-listed companies. The performance – or underperformance – of star signings can send clubs zinging up and down the financial charts as well as the football leagues. 2 Frontier Economics | February 2014 But how confident can clubs be that they are getting their money’s worth, when they sign expensive new players? To help address this question, Frontier has developed an economic model that estimates the value of players on the basis of their proven football skills, i.e. their performance so far. The model uses data collected from all transfers over £1m in the English Premier League and Spain’s La Liga – two of Europe’s richest leagues – over the past few seasons. -
Felly's Football Tour Introduction 3
Felly’s Football Tour Sprint/Summer 2021 (tbc) Fundraising for Fellysfund in memory of our good friend The Motivation To Turf Moor To the University of Bolton Stadium Supporting Felly’s Fund To Deepdale To Goodison Park To Boundary Park Felly's Football Tour Introduction 3 Redwood Events have been arranging charity walks and cycle events since 2007 and have recently started to work with the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. This has given us a great exposure to, and understanding of, the challenges that the Motor Neurone Disease can bring. Life changes very quickly for those diagnosed with MND and for their families. The average life expectancy for someone with Motor Neurone Disease is just 2-5 years from the onset of symptoms. A third of people diagnosed will die within a year and half within 2 years. It’s a 1/300 lifetime risk in the UK of being diagnosed with MND. That’s 3 children in each and every school today. There is no known cause of MND and there is no cure or effective treatment, it’s always fatal. When Paul Stanway talked to us about the great work they have done in memory of their great friend Felly, we were very keen to help. Felly’s Football Tour will combine a 131 mile continuous walking tour from Liverpool FC (Felly’s favourite team) to Fleetwood Town FC calling at fifteen other football grounds in between. This is a journey of 130 miles. After a short break for breakfast, the walking will give to cycling as riders will then head north from Fleetwood Town to Barrow AFC via Morecambe FC, a journey of 73 miles. -
