Michael Krieger, M.B.M. (*1954) aus 44894 Bochum (Text und Fotos): Musik-Prominenz in Wattenscheid Endlich war es soweit! KLAUS VOORMANN (auch vielfach der 5. BEATLES genannt) kam nach Wattenscheid, begleitet von WOLFGANG NIEDECKEN (Frontmann der Kölner Band BAP). Die Aufregung meinerseits war vorher schon groß. Was muss ich alles zu diesem Event mitnehmen um alles signieren zu lassen. Eingepackt die neueste DVD von KLAUS ALL YOU NEED IS KLAUS, die CD A SIDEMAN'S JOURNEY, einige Fotos (welche ich im Oktober 2008 im Autoforum Berlin an der Friedrichstraße schoss, wo KLAUS schon vorher seine Exponate ausstellte) und natürlich durfte meine Kamera nicht fehlen. Schon früh in Wattenscheid vor der St. Nikolaus Kirche angekommen, versammelten sich schon dutzende Fans, welche aus vielen Städten angereist waren, was man an Hand der verschiedenen Auto-Kennzeichen sehen konnte. Pünktlich um 19 Uhr erschienen die beiden Persönlichkeiten auf dem Podest, sie begrüßten Fans und baten um Fragen. Gefragt wurde unter anderem, warum Klaus seine meisten Werke in grau/schwarzen Farben gezeichnet hatte. Seine Erinnerung beruhte auf die graue Hafenstadt Hamburg Anfang der sechziger Jahre. 1967 bekam er den Grammy für das Platten-Cover der BEATLES-LP „Revolver“. Damals hatte er nicht mal das Geld um den Grammy, selbst anzuholen. Er erzählte, in welchen namhaften Bands er damals auftrat, unter anderem mit folgenden Gruppen: Ted "King Size" Taylor, Manfred Mann, PLASTIC ONO BAND, im CONCERT FOR BANGLA DESH, Lou Reed, Carly Simon, Harry Nilsson, B. B. King usw. usw., um nur einiger seiner Stationen zu nennen. Seine Bilder konnte man an diesem Abend käuflich erwerben, manche Exponate liegen im oberen Taschengeldbereich, teilsweise angefangen ab 500€ . Wolfgang Niedecken und Klaus Voormann plauderten begeistert von ihrer gemeinsamen Musikvergangenheit, wer bei wem spielte und andere kleine Anekdoten. Am Ende des Abends konnten jeder sich seine Schätze signieren lassen bevor die ca. 200 Fans zufrieden nach Hause gingen. Andrea Noack, hatte ja schon über 50 Jahre " STAR CLUB " am 12. / 13.4.2012 in Hamburg umfassend berichtet. Ich war ebenfalls dort und habe an 2 Abenden ein ganz tolles Spektakel erlebt. Am 12. 4. hatte ich eine Karte für geladene Gäste beim NDR , war super..., u.a. mit Auftritten von Lee Curtis und Tony Sheridan..!! Abends war ich dann in den Fliegenden Bauten . ( u.a. mit den Lords , Rattles, King Size Taylor usw. ) Am 13.4.2012 war ich im Kaiserkeller bei meinem ewigen Freund Horst Fascher eingeladen. Er hatte eine VIP Karte für mich. Dadurch gelangen mir Kontakte , die man nicht vergißt..!! Ich konnte mehrfach in den VIP Bereich von Pete Best und den Quarrymens. War einfach super. Pete signierte mir die Sticks , ein Drumm -Fell und zum Schluß auch noch seine Original Songliste ( handgeschrieben ) Auch die Quarrymens siegnierten mir Drumm- Fell , T- Shirt und zum Schluß die handgeschriebenen Songlisten..!! Alles mit Bildern festgehalten..! Höhepunkt ..ich durfte mit den Quarrymens das Waschbrett auf der Bühne spielen...!! Darüber gibt es auch ein Video..!! Unvergeßlich..!! Genug geschwelgt.., aber über einen Fakt sind wir uns alle einig.. 100 Jahre " STAR CLUB " werden wir wohl nicht mehr mitfeiern...!!     office* 2014: Beatles’ secretary Freda Kelly talks about life “in the eye of the storm” Freda Kelly, former secretary to The Beatles’ manager Brian Epstein, has been confirmed to host an exclusive headline Keynote on National PA Day (7 October) at this year’s office* – the UK’s leading annual two-day business event for executive support professionals. Freda was just seventeen when Brian Epstein offered her the job that thousands would later covet. She was the Fab Four’s fan club secretary for 11 years – throughout their entire recording career – and as such was an eye-witness to music history in the making. “At the time you don’t realise…I didn’t realise that I was in the eye of the storm. Hindsight’s a wonderful thing. You don’t really notice it. Also, it’s probably the type of person I am – I’m not fazed by anything really,” she explains, speaking ahead of her office* show appearance (one of the few in the UK this year). In this tell-all age, Freda could have easily cashed in and sold her story to the highest bidder. Instead she calmly got on with her life, and gave away most of her memorabilia to fans in the 1970s. To say she finally broke her silence last year, with the release of Ryan White’s documentary film Good Ol’ Freda, is something of a misnomer. For although the film, and her subsequent interviews since, do reveal a fascinating first-hand account of her time supporting one of the most famous bands of all time, like many in her profession she knows, and values, the importance of discretion.
