Pulling the Distributor It is not uncommon for Model A distributors to get stuck, especially at the worst time. The original fit of the distributor was snug, and, of course, if there is corrosion or any burrs in either the head casting or distributor body, the distributor will get wedged-in. There are a number of distributors that were ruined due to a mechanic trying to remove them with a big screwdriver and a bigger hammer. In their day, Ford made a The instructions say to remove the lock screw from the side special puller to remove the distributor, fortunately, this puller of the head, and thread the puller shaft into the distributor and then tighten the nut until the distributor lifts out of is currently being reproduced, as shown. head. . THE MODEL ‘A’ ERA (1928-1931) The Original 6 - Black Hawks Jersey

On November 17, 1926, in front of 9,000 fans at the Coliseum, the Chicago Black Hawks (two separate words) made their debut, defeating the Toronto St. Pat's by a score of 4- 1. The club was named after their owner Frederic McLaughlin's army unit, of which he had been a commander, the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Infantry, nicknamed the " Division". It was McLaughlin's wife Irene who designed the team's Indian head logo(depicting Chief Black Hawk of the Sauk nation). and sewed the first jersey patches. . The original 1926 Black Hawks jerseys were white with black Striping. For their second season, the club would debut new sweaters, which were a color reversal of their inaugural sweaters. This sweater was the first black sweater in NHL history. The 1927-28 Chicago Black Hawks Teddy Graham jersey (above left), shows the higher placement of the crest for the 1927-28 season, which overlapped the lower two chest stripes. For 1928-29 and subsequent seasons, the crest was lowered and the collar would change from black to white (right). The Black Hawks would wear these sweaters for seven seasons and win their first wearing them in 1934.

Tech Talk

Do the Christmas holiday and a nasty cold, I was unable to do too much work on my car in the past month. I did, however, learn how to grind the valves and test the spring tension with the help of Dan. Hopefully, the next step will be to reinsert the valves and put the head on the motor.

In addition, I spent an afternoon at Ken’s barn and helped sand the frame for the Model A compressor. Ken plans to have the compressor ready for the opening of the MAFFI museum in May – so anyone who can help is welcome to contact him.

My kids, who many met at the January meeting or at past events, love to color. Thanks to MAFCA, I was able to download and print a variety of vintage Model A adverts that were posted in black and white for kids to color. I highly recommend visiting MAFCA’s site and downloading these for your children or grandchildren. http://mafca.com/downloads/Publications/2012%20Coloring%20Book.pdf.
