The Local Plan was adopted in August 2018. Policy EC 4 allows development proposals for the expansion of the existing University campus, including associated development for educational, training, business and research development, student accommodation and other operational floorspace. Any emerging development proposals will need to be carefully masterplanned and have special regard to the Parkland setting of the main campus as well as ensuring that the sporting provision on the main University campus to the west is maintained and safeguarded against development. Reserved matters for the extant planning permission were submitted in May 2018 and are currently under consideration with the local planning authority.
