Awards and achievements Soumitra Chatterjee for Krantikaal Best Actor Award. Ghar Jamai (2008): Prasenjit – Namrata. Well, the best part of Bengali movies is this – You Do Not Have To Watch The Film to write a review. You would pretty much know all about the story the the Title. Simple “Ghar Jamai” means should be a family type drama with some sentimental scenes. Prasenjit is the hero, so some break dance and fight scenes. Abhishek is also there, so might be some “Yeh Dosti, Hum Nehi Chorenge”… Anup Sengupta is the director. Still his name is not so famous. More famous if Gautam Susmit for making numerous loud musical tunes in Bengali Films. It is surprsing that Ghar Jamai released the same day with another Prasenjit movie Khela by Rituporna Ghosh. There is nothing special about the movie. So, if you are not going to watch it, I would not blame too much. You may also like. Goynar Baksho (2013)-Bengali Movie User Review. MARWAR INDIA I MARCH-APRIL 2018 20 PROFILE 21 WITCHING OVER FROM THE BUSINESS OF MAKING rakhis (an ornamental thread that serves as an amulet which sisters ritualistically tie around the wrists of their brothers on Raksha Bandhan) to something as glamorous as producing films may seem hard to conceive, but for Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni it happened as if by divine intervention. Not only did the cousins’ foray into filmdom happen against all odds, but success greeted them from the get-go. The growth has continued SHOOTING unabated for over two decades since and today their company, SVF Entertainment, is the largest film production and distribution TO FAME house in Eastern India. College kids to film distributors The Mohtas originally belong to Bikaner in Rajasthan, but have been living in Kolkata for the last three generations, where they own one of the country’s biggest rakhi manufacturing companies. Rather than pick up the baton, as is the usual practice among Marwaris, Shrikant Mohta and cousin Mahendra Soni decided to turn their efforts in another direction, which led to the foundation of Shree Venkatesh Films (now renamed SVF Entertainment), which has grown phenomenally over the years, earning the sobriquet ‘Yashraj Films of the East’. So how did it all begin? “We started way back in 1995,” says Shrikant Mohta, who is 43 now and the creative muscle of SVF Entertainment. “We were two young energetic boys still in college pursuing a bachelor’s degree in commerce when we thought we can become dream merchants, but with no idea on how to sell dreams, as till then we were only involved in our family For Shrikant Mohta and Mahendra Soni, there is no business like Many of SVF's films went on show business.

2 3 Foreword The Rohingya community of Arakan, Burma (Myanmar) is one of the most down-trodden ethnic minorities of the world. They are victims of political oppression, economic exploitation and cultural slavery in their ancestral land - Arakan - where they have been living for centuries. Since the beginning of the 20th century the Rohingyas have been groaning under the crushing wheels of tyranny decades after decades. Ignoring all the irrefutable historical evidences of Rohingyas’ glorious past in Arakan, the Rohingyas have been suddenly made an illegal immigrant community in Arakan by the Burmese military regime through an amendment to the Burma citizenship law in 1982. With the loss of their legitimate right as the bonafide citizens of Burma, the Rohingyas have become homeless in their own home. The authority has been subjecting them to severe persecutions including serious restrictions of their movement even from village to village, ban on their marriage without government permission, religious persecution, extortion, land confiscation and restrictions on access to education. Arakan State is a closed zone for the media and so there is no scope for the world media to cover what is going on with the Rohingyas inside Arakan. A life with fear – is the life of Rohingyas. They pass their life in sub-human condition with half naked body full of hunger and grief. Tears are their permanent companions. They cry in corners and eventually die in silence. Rohingyas want peace. They want their legitimate right as the ethnic community of Arakan. They want a society which would be free from political oppression, economic exploitation, social anarchy and cultural slavery through the restoration of democracy in Burma.
