Airport Noise Management Report The Airport Noise Management Report is a publication of the Airport Noise Management Office. ANNUAL R EPORT Y EAR 201 4 N O I S E C O M P L A I N T S There were 51 noise complaints received from 12 different callers in 6 different communities for the Year 2014. This is a decrease of 90% from the 508 com- plaints made in the Year 2013. One caller from the City of Pasadena Park made 16 complaints (31% of all calls), and one caller from the City of St. Louis made 12 calls (26% of all calls). There were 22 (43% of all complaints) calls made during the night time period of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. and 29 (57% of all complaints) calls made during the day time period of 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. Eighty nine percent of the operations were during the day time hours and 11 percent during the night time period. Seven permanent noise monitors had a decrease in DNL levels ranging from –0.5 to –4.2 for the year 2014. One monitor had an increase of .2 from the previous year. An in- crease/decrease of 3 DNL represents a doubling/halving of the noise energy. All noise levels shown are measured in DNL (Day-Night Level). DNL represents noise exposure events averaged over a given time period. To account for human sensitivity to noise between the hours of 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., noise events occurring during these hours receive a “penalty” when the DNL is calculated. Each nighttime event is measured as if ten daytime events occurred. The runways at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport are : 12R/30L (11,019’x200’), 12L/30R (9,003’x150’), 11/29 (9,001’x150’), and 6/24 (7,607’x150’) Airport Noise Management Annual Report 2014 Page 4 O P E R A T I O N S B Y R U N W A Y There were 181,856 operations recorded in Year 2014 compared to 188,471 operations in Year 2013, a decrease of 3.5%. The most utilized runway for arrivals was Runway 30R (40,889) with 22.5% of all operations . The most utilized runway for departures was Runway 30L (35,708) with 19.6% of all operations. The remaining top 15 Air- lines are: Trans States (6.5%), Delta (5.9%), GoJet (5.9%), Republic (3.2%), Express Jet (3.1%), Air Choice One (2.9%), Envoy Air (2.8%), US Airways (2.2%), Fron- tier Airlines (1.5%), Netjets Aviation (GA Business Jets)(1.4%), Sky West Airlines (0.9%), and Mesa Airlines (0.87%). The Top Ten Airlines represented 79.3% of all operations for the Year 2014. There were 98 different airlines that utilized Lambert-St. Louis International Airport during this period. There are five different Types of Service: Commercial Passenger, Commercial Cargo, General Avia- tion, Military, and Unknown. The Unknown category are those aircraft where the system did not identify either the airline or aircraft equipment type, or both. The number one category was Commercial Passengers with 162,849 ( 89.5%) of all operations. General Aviation with 14,201 (7.8%) was the second largest category of operations. The remaining 4,806 operations were Commercial Cargo (1.8%), Military (0.1%), and the Unknown category (0.07%) . This chart is a further breakdown of the categories on Page 6. As indicated, Commercial Passenger Narrow Body Aircraft represented 51% of the total operations. Commercial Passenger Regional Jets represented 26% of the total 2014 operations. Commer- cial Passenger Propeller (13%), General Aviation Business Jets (6%), and General Aviation Propeller (2%) rounded out the top five categories of 2014 opera- tions . The chart below is color coded for each category. The most utilized aircraft during this period was the Boeing 737-700 series with 41,039 operations rep- resenting 22.6% of the fleet. Next was the Cessna 402 Utiliner operated primarily by Cape Air with 18,706 operations and 10.3% of the Year 2014 operations. Third was the Embraer 145 with 17,092 operations or 9.4% of all operations. There were 245 different types of aircraft that utilized Lambert-St. Louis Interna- tional Airport during this period.
