Biodiversity Summary for NRM Regions Species List What is the summary for and where does it come from? This list has been produced by the Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities (SEWPC) for the Natural Resource Management Spatial Information System. The list was produced using the AustralianAustralian Natural Natural Heritage Heritage Assessment Assessment Tool Tool (ANHAT), which analyses data from a range of plant and animal surveys and collections from across Australia to automatically generate a report for each NRM region. Data sources (Appendix 2) include national and state herbaria, museums, state governments, CSIRO, Birds Australia and a range of surveys conducted by or for DEWHA. For each family of plant and animal covered by ANHAT (Appendix 1), this document gives the number of species in the country and how many of them are found in the region. It also identifies species listed as Vulnerable, Critically Endangered, Endangered or Conservation Dependent under the EPBC Act. A biodiversity summary for this region is also available. Suiter, PhDʈ; Gary W. Price, MD**; and Stephen A. Klotz, MD‡ Objective: To identify ants other than Solenopsis invicta and Solenopsis richteri reported to cause adverse reactions in humans. Data Sources: We conducted a literature review to identify reports of medical reactions to ants other than S invicta and S richteri. Our review of medical and entomological literature on stinging ants was generated from MEDLINE and FORMIS, respectively, using the key words stinging ants and ant stings. The search was limited to articles in English published from 1966 to 2004 on MEDLINE and all years on FORMIS. We also present 3 new case reports of severe reactions to stings by 2 different species of ants, Pseudomyrmex ejectus and Hypoponera punctatissima. Study Selection: Articles that concerned anaphylactic (IgE-mediated) or anaphylactic-like (resembling anaphylaxis but mechanism unknown) immediate reactions to ant stings or bites were included in this review. Results: Taken together, our data demonstrate that S invicta and S richteri are not alone in their capability to cause serious allergic or adverse reactions. A diverse array of ant species belonging to 6 different subfamilies (Formicinae, Myrmeciinae, Ponerinae, Ectatomminae, Myrmicinae, and Pseudomyrmecinae) and 10 genera (Solenopsis, Formica, Myrmecia, Tetramorium, Pogonomyrmex, Pachycondyla, Odontomachus, Rhytidoponera, Pseudomyrmex, and Hypoponera) have now been shown to have this capability. Conclusion: Awareness that species other than imported fire ants may cause severe reactions should lead to more rapid evaluation and treatment and further investigation of the medical entomology of these ants. -

To the best of my knowledge and belief this thesis contains no material previously published or written by another person, except where due reference is made. One of the realities of doing research in a modern laboratory is the necessity of working closely with other members of a research team and external collaborators. For this reason some of the experimental results presented in this document were obtained by people other than myself. They are presented here to maintain a coherent narrative. A comprehensive list of these instances follows: liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry results in chapters 3, 4 and 6, and some of those in chapter 5, were obtained by Sarah Weisman; all Raman scattering spectra were obtained by Jeffrey S. Church; in chapters 4 and 6, I make use of a cDNA library constructed by Holly Trueman; all nuclear magnetic resonance spectra were obtained by Tsunenori Kameda; all amino acid analyses are results obtained by a commercial service at the Australian Proteome Analysis Facility. Email: [email protected] A flora and fauna survey was conducted at the east coast Tasmanian property Wind Song in 2017 as part of the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery’s ongoing research, collection-building and nature-discovery program. The survey recorded 885 taxa, primarily from the targeted groups of vascular plants, bryophytes, lichens, butterflies, moths, beetles, snails and slugs. Several of the taxa recorded, chiefly lichens and invertebrates, are new to science or new records for Tasmania. The survey provides a benchmark for further work and serves as an indicator of the biodiversity of a former farming property on Tasmania’s east coast. Reports of hymenopterans associated with ants involve more than 500 species, but only a fraction unambiguously pertain to actual parasitoids. In this paper, we attempt to provide an overview of both the diversity of these parasitoid wasps and the diversity of the types of interactions they have formed with their ant hosts. The reliable list of parasitoid wasps using ants as primary hosts includes at least 138 species, reported between 1852 and 2011, distributed among 9 families from 3 superfamilies. These parasitoids exhibit a wide array of biologies and developmental strategies: ecto- or endoparasitism, solitary or gregarious, and idio- or koinobiosis. All castes of ants and all developmental stages, excepting eggs, are possible targets. -

Voici les deuxième et troisième parties. La deuxième partie présente la liste de tous les articles relatifs aux hyménoptères de Belgique, la plupart du temps écrits par des auteurs belges, classés par auteurs et par dates de publication (plus de 1300 références). La troisième partie indique quels sont les travaux les plus récents qui permettent de cataloguer ou identifier les espèces. Ces travaux sont classés par groupes systématiques ou par sujets. Ils proviennent aussi bien de la littérature étrangère que de la littérature belge (plus de 600 références).
