Usaha-usaha yang komprehensif ini diharap dapat menyumbang ke arah pencapaian objektif Jabatan dalam jangka masa panjangnya. Sepanjang tahun 2007, telah menyaksikan peningkatan kes pelanggaran akta Hidupan Liar 76/1972. Justeru itu, pihak Jabatan telah meningkatkan usaha pemantauan dan penguatkuasaan dengan mengadakan operasi dengan lebih kerap dan teratur terutamanya di semua kawasan perlindungan Jabatan PerHiLiTaN. Unit-unit jenayah hidupan liar telah diperkukuhkan. Program pembiakan hidupan liar di dalam kurungan di beberapa Pusat Konservasi Hidupan Liar di seluruh Semenanjung Malaysia diteruskan sepanjang tahun 2007. Beberapa program pembiakan komersial yang melibatkan spesies landak raya dan napuh telah dilaksanakan. Usaha-usaha mengumpul sampel tisu hidupan liar untuk disimpan dalam Perbankan Sumber Genetik Hidupan Liar (WGrB) berjalan dengan lebih baik melalui bantuan daripada PerHiLiTaN Negeri dan Pusat Konservasi Hidupan Liar. As the agency responsible for the conservation of the country’s biodiversity resources especially wildlife species and habitats, the Department has carried out various activities and programs throughout the year. It is hoped that these comprehensive efforts will contribute towards achieving the department’s objectives in the long term. The year 2007 recorded an increase in the number of violations of the Protection of Wildlife Act 76/1972. This prompted the Department to enhance its monitoring and enforcement efforts by having more frequent and systematic operations especially in all its Protected Areas. Wildlife Crime Units were also strengthened. Wildlife captive breeding programmes continued throughout 2007 at the various Wildlife Conservation Centres in the Peninsular. Several commercial breeding programmes involving porcupine and large mouse-deer were carried out. Efforts to collect wildlife tissue samples for the Wildlife Genetic Resource Bank (WGRB) were further enhanced with the assistance from the state DWNP offices and Wildlife Conservation Centres.
