The methodology of the research contemplated a sample of 46 heritage buildings, approximately 16% of the universe of properties, which are around 268. In turn, these were limited to Recife’s Metropolitan Region Area - RMR comprising 30% of the 153 properties of the municipalities of: Cabo de Santo Agostinho, Igarassu, Itamaracá, Ipojuca, Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Moreno, Olinda, Paulista, Recife and São Lourenço da Mata. From the specific forms set up based on the theoretical reference, as well as graphics and photographic records were assessed the aspects of both internal and external accessibility, displacement, (visual) orientation, and the use of space and equipment. In the analysis of different types was assembled a summary table ranking the samples in accessible, partially accessible and not accessible. As general results were found that from the 46 properties examined, 2 (5%) are accessible, 16 (35%) are partially accessible and 28(60%) are not accessible. Such data, although sample, shows that the majority of heritage properties does not provide access to people physically disabled or with reduced mobility signaling for professionals, managers and society institutions on the need to reduce physical barriers in such heritage. The difficulty in obtaining intensity-duration-frequency equations through pluviographs because of the poor density of pluviographs network has led engineers to use other methods for determining these equations from pluviometric records. In this paper were used time series from 8 municipalities of mesoregions of Pernambuco State to determine intensity-duration-frequency equations using rainfall disaggregation method. The goodness of fit Gumbel distribution was confirmed by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test with a significance level of 5%. The generated equations showed reasonable fitting with R² ranging from 97,5% to 97,9% for the rainfall disaggregation method. Keys-words: high intensity rainfall, Pernambuco, disaggregation method.

There was an average rate of 1 death per million inhabitants, similar to countries such as Singapore and Vietnam. The weighted number of fires per wounded or dead person results in rates of 0.5 and 1.7 per 100 recorded fires, respectively. These numbers are concerning, especially when compared to rates from other regions in the world. The victims of fires in MRR were shown to generally not be a perceivable problem in terms of common sense, yet they are real and require accurate analysis and effective measures. Keywords: Fires.

Historic Centre of the Town of Olinda (Brazil) Retrospective Statement of Outstanding Universal Value (RSOUV) Nomination Submission Number: 189 Date of Inscription: 1982 Criteria: ii, iv Date of RSOUV: 2012 Brief Synthesis The exceptional ensemble of landscape, urbanism and architecture found in the Historic Centre of the Town of Olinda is an eloquent reflection of the prosperity nourished by the sugar economy. Founded in 1535 on hillsides overlooking the Atlantic Ocean on Brazil’s northeast coast, close to the isthmus of Recife where its port is situated, Olinda served from the last years of the 16th century onward as one of the most important centres of the sugarcane industry, which for almost two centuries was the mainstay of the Brazilian economy. This former capital of the Portuguese administrative division (capitania) of Pernambuco became the symbol of sugar and of the wealth it procured. Its historic centre today is marked by a number of architecturally outstanding buildings set in the lush vegetation of gardens, hedgerows and convent precincts, a mass of greenery bathed in tropical light with the sandy shore and ocean below. Rebuilt by the Portuguese after being looted and burned by the Dutch, Olinda’s existing historic fabric dates largely from the 18th century, although it incorporates some older monuments such as the 16th-century church of São João Batista dos Militares. Olinda became a remarkable nucleus, first as an economic, architectural and artistic centre, and later as a centre for the renewal of ideas. The harmonious balance between its buildings, gardens, convents, numerous small passos (chapels) and about twenty baroque churches all contribute to the Historic Centre of the Town of Olinda’s particular charm.

The studied granitoids show high SiO2, Fe# [FeO/(FeO+MgO)], total alkalis (K2O+Na2O) and BaO Received in revised form 29 September 2009 contents and medium Sr and low Nb contents. They show gentle fractionated rare earth patterns with discrete Eu Accepted 6 October 2009 negative anomalies. Major and trace element data point to chemical features of transitional high-K calc-alkaline Available online 17 October 2009 to alkaline post-collisional magmatism. Structural data coupled with geochronological data suggest that NNE– SSW-trending sinistral movements at shear zones were initiated at ca. 590 Ma and have activated E–W pre- Keywords: existing structures at the current crustal level. The synchronism of these shear zones allowed the dilation to Ediacaran Syenogranite generate the necessary space for the emplacement of the Águas Belas pluton. Geochemistry U–Pb SHRIMP zircon data show a cluster of ages around 588±4 Ma which is interpreted as the crystallization age.
