Entre los compositores cuyas obras han interpretado y grabado están los de mayor renombre de Latinoamérica, en una lista que incluye a Ástor Piazzolla, Silvestre Revueltas, Alberto Ginastera, Mario Lavista, Gabriela Ortiz, Manuel María Ponce, Carlos Chávez, Rodolfo Halffter y Heitor Villa-Lobos. Por este compromiso tan claro con el repertorio de nuestro continente, la sala de conciertos de la Biblioteca Luis Ángel Arango invitó al cuarteto a realizar dos estrenos de obras comisionadas por el Banco de la República: en 1998, el estreno del Cuarteto No. 5, Op. 198 de Blas Emilio Atehortúa, y en 2004, el estreno del Cuarteto de cuerdas de Sergio Mesa. Ambas obras pueden escucharse en el disco Compositores de nuestro tiempo, editado por el Banco de la República. El Cuarteto Latinoamericano ha atraído la atención de artistas, sellos discográficos, presentadores y otros actores de la industria musical hacia el repertorio latinoamericano. Gracias a él, muchos creadores de nuestro continente han tenido la oportunidad de ser escuchados en diferentes partes del mundo. -

Internationales Festival für Rahmentrommeln schlägt gemeinsam mit Annette Maye (Ensemble FisFüz) Brücken von klassischer türkischer Musik zu Weltmusik und Jazz. Besonders freue ich mich wieder auf den großen Trommel abend, dieses Mal – wie sollte es auch anders sein – unter dem Titel ROOTS, bei dem das norwegische Percussion-Ensemble SISU quasi die Felle in der Hand hält und dabei mit unterschiedlichen Rahmentrommelkulturen in Dialog tritt. Wir freuen uns, dass dieses Jahr drei Konzerte von SWR 2 mitgeschnitten werden und Ende des Jahres noch einmal im Radio zu hören sind. Ich möchte mich auch im elften Jahr ganz herzlich bei denen bedanken, die den Tamburi Mundi Freiburg e.V. von Jahr zu Jahr mit Tat, Interes- se, Engagement, Ideen und ihrer Begeisterung unterstützen: bei unserem Liebe Tamburi Mundi-Besucher_Innen! treuen Publikum, beim unermüdlichen Tamburi Mundi Team, bei den vie- len ehrenamtlichen Mitarbeitern, bei unseren Förderern und Sponsoren, „Die Zweige geben Kunde von der Wurzel.“ beim Kulturamt und der Stadt Freiburg, dem Land-Baden-Württemberg (Arabisches Sprichwort) und dem E-Werk Freiburg! Meine Gedanken möchte ich mit einem weite- ren – leicht abgewandelten – arabischen Sprichwort beschließen und uns Das Motto ROOTS soll 2016 unsere Inspirationsquelle und richtungs- allen damit eine inspirierende, bewegende und wunderbare Festivalzeit weisend für einige Konzertabende sein. Als ich das Thema meinen wünschen: Percussion-Kollegen vorschlug, waren sie sofort begeistert. Jeder von uns verbindet mit „Wurzeln“ eigene Assoziationen – persönlich und im „Zwei Dinge soll Musik uns vermitteln: Wurzeln und Flügel.“ professionellen Bereich als Musiker und oft sind diese beiden Bereiche gar nicht klar voneinander zu trennen. -

Jacobson, Artistic Director honoring Cantor Elias Rosemberg Cantor Elias Rosemberg Born into a musical family in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Elias Rosemberg began studies in 1991 at Seminario Rabínico Latinoamericano and obtained the degree of Hazzan and Singing Professor in 1994. In addition to his vocal training, he studied music theory and harmony and completed a five-year program in Pathology, Audiology and Speech Therapy at the University of Buenos Aires. A concert and wedding performer in the Buenos Aires area, Cantor Rosemberg won the vocal contest: “Argentina Sings for Israel,” organized by the Israeli Embassy of Argentina in 1998. He served as cantor in Buenos Aires and, after he moved to the US, was cantor at Temple Emeth in Chestnut Hill. He is currently the cantor of Temple Emanuel in Newton, the largest Conservative synagogue in New England. In addition to his cantorial duties at Temple Emanuel, Cantor Rosemberg performs regularly with the Bostonian Opera and Concert Ensemble and the Zamir Chorale of Boston. He serves as the New England Region Chair for the Cantors Assembly, is the immediate past president of the New England Board of Cantors and has served on the faculty of the Cantor-Educator program at Hebrew College as a cantorial coach. -
