Shrewsbury Town Fc Away Fan Guide SHREWSBURY TOWN FC AWAY FAN GUIDE 2019 / 2020SHREWSBURY TOWN FC | AWAY FAN GUIDE Welcome Shrewsbury Town Football Club Shrewsbury Town Football Club was formed in 1886 and has been a cornerstone of the Shropshire community ever since. In 2007 the club moved to Montgomery Waters Meadow, an all seater stadium, built just to the south of the picturesque town of Shrewsbury. Accessed by Oteley Road the football ground is within easy access of the A5 and just a 30 minute walk from Shrewsbury Town Centre. The purpose-built stadium has a capacity of 9,875 across four stands. These include the Assist Group West Stand (3,317 seats), the Roland Wycherley East Stand (2,741 seats), the Salop Leisure South Stand (1,400 seats/555 safe standing) and the DM Recruitment North Stand (1796 seats for Away Supporters). The Roland Wycherley Stand also includes 8 executive boxes, comfy seats for Sovereign Club members and sponsors and a family stand for the younger generation. The Salop Leisure Stand includes a Safe Standing section of 555 spaces. This was opened in 2018 and is the first of its kind in England or Wales. SHREWSBURY TOWN FC | AWAY FAN GUIDE Travel Arrangements CAR Situated on the South side of Shrewsbury, the Montgomery Waters Meadow is just a stone’s throw away from the A5 and A49. If you are travelling from the North (Warrington) or South (Hereford) then you will arrive in Shrewsbury on the A49 and you should follow the signs to the football ground. If you are travelling from either the West (Mid-Wales) or the East (Birmingham) then you will arrive in Shrewsbury on the A5 and you should also follow signs for the football club. If you would like to find us on google maps then put in ‘Shrewsbury Town Football Club’. If you are using a Sat-Nav then our postcode is ‘SY2 6ST’. See parking options below. TRAIN Shrewsbury Railway Station connects direct with many major stations, such as Manchester, Cardiff and Birmingham. The railway station is two miles from the stadium. On leaving the railway station proceed to the bus station (300 yards) to travel on the Express Bus Service or Arriva operated services. BUS A bus service will run three journeys from the town’s bus station to and from the stadium for Saturday and two journeys for mid-week matches. The service will pick up at The Shirehall Car Park and the return service will leave the stadium from behind the South Stand ten minutes after the end of the match. PARKING There are a number of parking options available for games at the Montgomery Waters Meadow in and around the stadium... Meole Brace P&R - SY3 9NB (10 mins walk), Wild Pig Pub - SY3 9JT (12 mins walk), Pritchards - SY3 7QZ (15 mins walk) SHREWSBURY TOWN FC | AWAY FAN GUIDE TICKETS Once you arrive at the ground, tickets are available from the ‘Away Ticket Office’, located in the DM Recruitment North Stand. This ticket office, subject to availability will be cash only. We recommend that you buy tickets in advance either online or over the phone on 01743 273 943. Tickets can be collected on the day next to the ticket office. We have a range of ticketing options for all ages. The DM Recruitment Stand also features a high level balcony as well as further availability in the front row for visiting disabled supporters. *Junior Under-12s are free as long as they are brought with an Adult or Senior. Please note any Junior Under-12 will not be able to get a match ticket without being seated next to and purchased with an Adult. We also offer a fancard which has an initial cost of £5 but gives adults £2 off every game and SHREWSBURY TOWN FC | AWAY FAN GUIDE Concessions £1 off every game (league games only). Matchday Experience So you’ve got your ticket, you’ve parked up, now it’s time for the matchday experience. Get down to the ground early and soak up the atmosphere, gates open at 1:30pm for 3pm kick offs and 6:30pm for 7:45pm kick offs. We have a fanzone, welcome to all which opens at 1pm on 3pm matchdays and includes live music, food and drink. The fanzone is situated behind the DM Recruitment Stand beside Smithy’s Bar. CLUB SHOP Our Club Shop is stocked with a wide range of goods including our Replica Admiral Kits. Errea training wear is also available for purchase, while we also have a good selection of leisurewear items including coats, polo shirts and t-shirts. We also have a wide range of smaller items including pin-badges, scarfs, and stationery items, all of which make the perfect gift for the Shrewsbury Town fan in your life. The Club Shop is situated next to the main ticket office in the Roland Wycherley Stand. The Shop is open from 10am on matchdays. The programme is filled with content including ten-pages dedicated to the opposition. There are also regular features on our Academy, Community and Women’s team. The programme also features a pull-out kids section including a poster which can be signed by the featured player. GOLDEN GAMBLE The Golden Gamble is our half-time draw, and tickets can be bought before the game from the authorised sellers. Each and every ticket is entered into the draw, with 50% of all the takings going straight to the winner! With prizes more often than not in excess of £400 - why not give it a go and see what your £1 could do? Our buffet bars are run by local Catering company, MPM and supply a wide range of products including Wrights pies, Rollover hotdogs, chips, hot and cold soft drinks and a range of alcoholic beverages. The buffets open when the turnstiles open and they will serve until around 4:30pm. We recommend you get your food 10 minutes before kick off or during half time so that you don’t miss any of the action. Flags up to 2m x 1m can be brought into the stadium without prior permission. Flag poles should be no longer than 1.5m in length and made of a lightweight material i.e. plastic. Wooden and metal poles are not permitted. Larger flags are only allowed subject to permission on application prior to the match and written confirmation and certification that they are inherently fire retardant or have been treated for fire retardant properties. Flags can be draped across seats where space permits. Please ask a steward for advice on the day. *Flags must not contain anything that might be considered abusive or offensive* Can I bring a musical instrument to Montgomery Waters Meadow? Drums that are contained within an individual’s seat space are normally allowed subject to permission on application prior to the match. Larger drums and any other type of musical instrument may be allowed subject to permission on application prior to the match. Drums and musical instruments should not be used to the extent they cause a nuisance to fellow supporters.     Shropshire County 2016-17 QOF Data Report by Place Plan Area The following report is based upon the Quality and Outcomes Framework data (QOF) for 2016-17 which records disease prevalence, achievements and exceptions at GP practice level and Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) level. The 23 place plan areas are based on Lower Level Super Output Areas (LLSOAs) but may have been assigned to a Place Plan Area because it had the largest population where LLSOAs cross geographical boundaries. GP Practices were assigned to place plan areas according to their post code linked to Lower LLSOAs; disease prevalence (%) was calculated on place plan populations. The following maps show the QOF prevalence of disease based as a percentage of the place plan area population 2015i with red indicating a significantly higher prevalence to the Shropshire average, green significantly lower and yellow similar to the Shropshire average. Asthma Map 1: Prevalence of Asthma by Place Plan Area in Shropshire County 2016-17 QOF Data Source: QOF 2016-17 – NHS Digital i - Source: ONS Mid-year population 2015 based on LSOA11 Map 1 shows the areas of higher significance for Asthma highlighted in red; the majority of place plan areas were similar to the Shropshire average of 6.7% but Whitchurch, West & Central and South Shrewsbury Town, Pontesbury & Minsterly, Albrighton and Craven Arms had a significantly higher prevalence of Asthma compared to the Shropshire average. Shropshire average was significantly higher than either the West Midlands at 6.0% and England at 5.9%. Atrial Fibrillation The majority of place plan areas in map 2 were similar to the Shropshire average of 2.6% but Ellesmere, Albrighton, Church Stretton and Ludlow had a significantly higher prevalence of Atrial Fibrillation compared to the Shropshire average and also have significantly higher populations over the age of 65 (see table 1).
