January 2012 AECOM Introduction Context In 2010, the Ville de Montréal adopted its second Montréal Community Sustainable Development Plan. This plan sets the orientations and objectives for the next five years, thus until 2015. In this same document, Montréal invited the boroughs to equip themselves with their own local sustainable development plans. With the desire to adopt best practices for sustainable development at the local level, the Borough of Pierrefonds- Roxboro answered the Ville centre’s call and is very proud to present its very first Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development for2012-2015. In conformity with the Montréal Community, the local plan for the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro replicates the five orientations, indicating its particular contributions to the local issues and specifics of its own population, economy and environment. Approach by the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro In the spirit of sustainable development, the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro chose a participative approach for drawing up its Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development. Five workshops were held, which took the form of days working with partners in the milieu, municipal employees and the Borough’s elected officials. These workshops took place at key stages in the preparation of the Strategic Plan for Sustainable Development for the Borough of Pierrefonds-Roxboro. “Imagine Pierrefonds-Roxboro” The aim of this first workshop was to reveal the main perceptions and issues particular to the Borough. Another goal was to define the vision for sustainable development in the community of Pierrefonds-Roxboro so as to take into consideration the aspirations of the population, the municipal employees
