In South Africa, these awards are given to ordinary people who have achieved extraordinary feats and made invaluable contributions to our country’s democracy. Theatre Reviews in Brief ‘FAT PIG’ MORE SUITABLE FOR SCHOOL STAGE “Helen” (Chanelle de Jager) in Neil LaBute’s “Fat Pig” skilfully holds your focus and single-handedly is this play’s drawcard. The emotions she spills onstage and into your heart are contagious. The play is, however, so riddled with juvenile dialogue and weak supporting characters, it would be better served on a school stage, pre-empting difference-awareness workshops. The message is blunt; the play, paralysingly predictable, its denouement knocks its shallow handling into relief.
