nn Richards School Foundation IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE ANN RICHARDS SCHOOL FOR YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS 2019-2020 ANNUAL REPORT LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR Dear Friends, I am incredibly honored to have joined the Ann Richards School Foundation community this past year. It has been inspiring to work with you - our donors, partners, and champions - to ensure our young women reach their full potential. While Covid-19 challenged all of us, the bulk of the 2019-20 school year was full of the highlights, experiences, and sisterhood of a typical school year, including: – Welcoming over 100 college representatives from across the country – to meet with our Stars at the annual Ann Richards School College Fair. – STEM-based curriculum projects like the Austin Zoo animal – enrichment device, Code for the Cure with Susan G. Komen, – and the YWPN STEM Challenge. – Alumnae Day with over 50 graduates sharing advice about pursuing – higher education to their younger Ann Richards School sisters. – Junior Internship Week with students interning at 31 business sites – all across Austin. In March, when the school shut down and quickly converted to virtual learning, our Ann Richards School Stars continued to strive for big things and proved more resilient than ever. Seventh-grader Emma T. applied the sewing skills that she learned in STEM class to make masks for her community. A group of seniors started Starlight News, a weekly YouTube broadcast to share and connect with the Ann Richards community from home. All 106 graduates from the Class of 2020 were accepted to a four-year college with 605 unique offers of admission. With you, we advance education and empower young women from all across Austin. We ensure our students have the confidence and skills to apply, attend, and graduate from college. We continued the legacy of Ann Richards - creating opportunities for our Stars by educating and encouraging them to become leaders in their community. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our donors and partners who have impacted our girls – even in challenging times. With sincere gratitude, Peggy Hanley, Executive Director Ann Richards School Foundation THE FOUNDATION MAKES IT POSSIBLE COLLEGE VISITS SAT/ACT TEST PREP COLLEGE ADVISING FINDING THE RIGHT FIT FOR COLLEGE FINANCIAL AID FOR COLLEGE STEM CURRICULUM MAKER SKILLS MAKERSPACE SUPPLIES MAKERSPACE TOOLS REAL WORLD EXPERIENCES PROJECT BASED LEARNING EDUCATIONAL FIELD TRIPS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM ALUMNAE SUPPORT TEACHER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT ANN RICHARDS SCHOOL FOR YOUNG WOMEN LEADERS IMPACT 100% ACCEPTED TO COLLEGE 55% PURSUING STEM MAJORS IN COLLEGE 65% FIRST IN THEIR FAMILIES TO GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE #2 IN AUSTIN AND #33 IN TEXAS BY THE TEXAS SCHOOL GUIDE 78TH MOST CHALLENGING HIGH SCHOOL IN THE NATION BY THE WASHINGTON POST #18 IN TEXAS AND #135 NATIONALLY BY US NEWS & WORLD REPORT FOUNDATION FINANCIALS: REVENUES & EXPENSES: Statement of Financial Position for Fiscal Year 2020 FY 2020 Operating Revenues September 1, 2019 – August 31, 2020 ASSETS Investment Income $ 546,663 43% Current Assets $ 6,104,226 Fixed Assets 5,875 General Contributions $ 415,511 32% Restricted Investments 1,804,508 43% TOTAL 32% Corporate and TOTAL ASSETS $ 7,914,609 $1,282,855 Foundation Grants $ 246,000 19% LIABILITIES AND NET ASSETS Special Events $ 55,850 4% Current Liabilities Other Income $ 18,831 2% Accounts Payable $ 80,375 4% Accrued Payroll 13,429 19% 2% $ 93,804 Long-term note payable $52,112 Total Liabilities $145,916 FY 2020 Functional Expenses Net Assets Without Donor Restrictions Undesignated $ 419,690 Designated by Board for Endowment 5,112,902 Program $ 699,589 73% $ 5,532,592 73% Fundraising $ 165,989 17% With Donor Restrictions 17% Perpetual in Nature for Endowment $ 1,545,305 TOTAL Administrative $ 93,627 10% Purpose Restrictions 690,796 $959,205 $ 2,236,101 Total Net Assets $ 7,768,693 10% TOTAL LIABILITIES AND NET ASSETS $ 7,914,609 Complete audited financial statements available at www.annrichardsschool.org/foundation/our-impact THANK YOU TO OUR DONORS David Abbruzzese Alastair Borthwick Christine Acas Alexa Bourdage Ann Richards is really a school like no other.
