(Notice given 4 May 2011) 18 NATIONAL PARTNERSHIP ON LITERACY AND NUMERACY MS CARMEL TEBBUTT to move— That this House: (1) Notes that the COAG Reform Council Report on the National Partnership Agreement on Literacy and Numeracy released on 19 April 2011, found that New South Wales had exceeded 11 of its 12 improvement targets and recommended New South Wales receive significant reward payments. (2) Congratulates the teachers, students and parents in the 147 National Partnership schools in New South Wales for their outstanding improvement in literacy and numeracy performance. (3) Calls on the Government to continue the successful programs and initiatives that have supported this substantial improvement. (2) Congratulates the Foundation and its volunteers for raising money through donations, that remain in the Hunter for the benefit of local people. (Notice given 4 May 2011) 21 HEART WEEK DR ANDREW MCDONALD to move— That this House: (1) Notes heart disease is the number one killer of Australian women. (2) Notes that 1 - 7 May 2011 is Heart Week, which aims to raise community awareness of cardiovascular disease. (3) Calls on members of this House to raise awareness about this important health issue. (Notice given 4 May 2011) 22 COMPENSATION TO FARMERS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL LAND MR RICHARD TORBAY to move— That this House: (1) Notes that the Native Vegetation Act needs to be amended to provide just compensation to farmers for any land sequestered for environmental purposes. (2) Calls on the Government to pay farmers for their stewardship of that land to keep it free of weeds, pests and feral animals.
