Trinity Tattoo Co. 3795 Bonney Rd. Virginia Beach, VA, 23452 757.275.9391 Piercing aftercare for: Genital Healing time: Male: 2-6 months; Female: Hood 2-8 weeks, all other 2-6 months A two week checkup is recommended to make sure you are properly healing and answer to any questions you may have. DO NOT touch your new piercing. This can spread bacteria and cause extreme irritation or infection. The ONLY time it is acceptable to touch the piercing is in the shower. After you have done soap and shampoo rinse the piercing under the fresh water for 30 seconds. Soap and shampoo will work its way inside your piercing and cause irritation if not properly washed out. White and yellow puss and/or crust will happen, do not be alarmed, this is your body’s natural reaction to the foreign object. The preferred method of aftercare is H2Ocean spray. This should be sprayed 3 to 6 times daily directly on the piercing. DO NOT move the piercing. Spray it and leave it alone. Ear care antiseptic, sea salt, and saline solutions are other methods of aftercare, although not recommended because you will have to move the piercing and some of this can be more harmful than helpful. (DO NOT EVER use anything anti-bacterial on genital piercings) You can saturate a clean Q-tip, gauze, or cotton swab with your cleaning solution and use it to gently clean the area and jewelry of crust and puss. DO NOT change the jewelry for the duration of the healing time. ALWAYS ask beforehand or have your piercer change the jewelry the first time. Do not put anything plastic in your piercing for the first 3 months AT LEAST. Plastic will hold bacteria and cause irritation or infection. Swelling may take anywhere from 3 to 10 days to subside if it has not had any outside irritation. Advil, Ibuprofen, and Motrin have anti-inflammatory agents that can help the swelling go down, as well as help with pain. Be careful with clothing seams, tight clothing or clothing that touches the piercing, and towels. Your jewelry will catch and pull, or get rubbed and irritated. You can place Band-Aids over the beads on your piercing to prevent this from happening, but do not use the adhesive end on your jewelry or piercing. For ampallang, appadravya, dydoe, or prince albert, you may need unduplicated condoms and gauze. Place gauze on each side of the jewelry and then pinch the tip of the condom, gauze, and jewelry between your fingers. Unroll condom normally over the piercing. This is to contain any bleeding. Some genital piercing bleed for the first few days, do not be alarmed. Avoid sexual activities (including oral) for the healing duration to avoid bodily fluid entrance and irritation. NEVER use rubbing alcohol, peroxide, beta dine, bactine, bacitracin, or Neosporin on your piercing. They are either too harsh or not meant for the puncture wound, and are usually labeled as such. Carefully follow all instructions, unless otherwise advised by your piercer. NEVER listen to friends, no matter what they have or think they know. For questions please call or stop in..
