Burray Primary School June 2018 Highlight Sports Day What an awesome term!! Despite the weather what fun we had. Everyone from 3 to 13+ giving their January 2018 best, regardless of their actual placing in the race. To all who helped on Pupils and staff working so well together and enjoying learning. the day, especiallyBulletin our P.E. Teacher Miss Holly Elson, Thank you! Pupils are great role models and ambassadors for the school whether on school trips or sports day and they have a great work ethic. The parents and wider community support the entire Burray School team, with concerts, parent’s nights and other activities throughout the school year. On behalf of the children and staff a big thank you for your continued support. Dates for diaries-2018/19 Term 1 starts on Monday 20th of August with an In-Service day for staff. st Children start on Tuesday 21 August. Term 1 finishes on Friday October 12th. Staffing update Staff are back in school for We wish Ms Kate Towsey all the best in her new role as Principal Teacher at Glaitness School. Who could forget the S amba performance! Staffing for Term 1 2018/19 is as follows; Head Teacher Mr Bruce Pilkington Principal Teacher and P1+2 class teacher Mrs Kirsten Allan P3-7 Class Teacher Mr Karl Simpson Support for Learning Teacher Mrs Krissy Simpson Auxiliary/Clerical Mrs Debbie Smales Janitor/Cleaner Mr Alan Riding N.B. I shall continue in my role as Head Teacher until Mr Steve Arnold takes up his post in January 2019. Erin Boyd will return to her Principal Teacher post in the P3-7 classroom in Term 2. At this stage we have yet to be told who our Expressive Arts teachers will be for the coming year. On Monday 25th June the Nursery went to Kirkwall on the public bus. They visited the library and had a great time in Tankerness House Gardens. On Tuesday 26th June the P1-7 class went to the Orkney Museum then on the boat to Shapinsay. They had lunch at the Shapinsay School and visited the Balfour Castle and gardens. Both trips would not have been possible without Parents/Grandparents accompanying the groups so a big thankyou to those who were able to come along. Below are some photographs of both trips-Enjoy! May I take this opportunity to wish the P7 children all the best for their future, it has be en a pleasure getting to know them.
