School Bus Services in Bury September 2017 to July 2018 School Bus Services in Bury September 2017 to July 2018 Services in this leaflet operate on schooldays only, unless otherwise stated. Although provided primarily for school students, members of the public may use these services. Services are listed alphabetically under school names. Bury Schools 2017-2018 1 An introduction to School buses and concessionary fares for students in Greater Manchester Passengers can pay a fare to the driver for each journey shown on this timetable. However, students will need to show an IGO pass to travel at the concessionary (reduced) fare. If students do not have an IGO pass, they will have to pay a higher fare. Most of the journeys shown in this timetable are funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The majority of TfGM funded services charge a standard fare, although some journeys do have additional fare bands. Daily return tickets are available on many services. In some cases, the return ticket can also be used for travel on other journeys which serve similar areas – even if it is provided by a different operator. If a daily return ticket is available on TfGM funded services, students can also buy a weekly scholars ticket, which costs £7. These are available from the bus driver on all services where they are applicable. To help the driver, please try to have the correct fare when buying your ticket. A summary of fares and ticketing information on all school services included in this timetable can be found at http://www.tfgm.com/journey_planning/Pages/back-to-school.aspx There are also a small number of TfGM funded services where the operator sets the fares. You will need to check with the operator what fares are available. Yellow School Buses This timetable also shows the journeys operated by Yellow School Buses. Yellow School Bus journeys have special travel conditions and can only be used by students who hold a Yellow School Bus pass which is valid for that journey (in addition to an IGO pass). Students who wish to use a Yellow School Bus should go to http://www.tfgm.com/buses/yellowschoolbus/Pages/default.aspx for details on how to apply for a pass. The IGO Pass All students between the ages of 11 and 16 need an IGO pass if they wish to travel at the concessionary (reduced fare) rate on buses. The IGO pass is like an ID card and proves that the student is aged 16 or under. It must be carried on all journeys and shown to the driver before paying the fare. The IGO pass costs £10 and can only be bought by students who live, or go to school in Greater Manchester. Uniform Friday 18th Oct 19 We will be looking forward to getting the new year off to the best possible Half Term start and as you are aware we will be rolling out the changes made to the school uniform last year to ALL pupils in September. This means that NO Fri 18th Oct - Fri 25th Oct 19 skirts should be worn at all by any girls in any years. Please see full details below:- End of Autumn Term Pupils who attend school in incorrect uniform will be sent home to Wednesday 18th Dec 19 change All Staff will check regularly for the wearing of the correct uniform by pupils. Staff Training Days When pupils are given a Non-uniform Day, the School are still expecting pupils to be dressed appropriately.     BURY CHURCH OF ENGLAND HIGH SCHOOL DECEMBER 2019 FAREWELL It is with a great degree of sadness that I find myself writing this, my final article for the Grapevine newsletter. I will be stepping down as Headteacher of Bury CE High School after seven years, having joined the school in September 2012. It has been a privilege to lead this wonderful historic school. To have been part of a community that goes back to 1748 has been an enormous joy and I have loved it. The Governors will determine who the new Head will be to take on the reins and lead the school forward in the next stage of its development. I want to say thank you to all who have supported the school during my period as Headteacher. To parents and carers, I would say a big thank you for entrusting your children into our care. I have had the joy of seeing your children turn into amazing young men and women of whom we, and you, can be immensely proud. To those who have been friends of the school, I would thank you for your support over the years. Your help has enabled us to achieve vastly more than we could have ever imagined. Whether it has been clergy giving up their time to come in and lead services, or Alumni giving generously to support prizes and fund-raising activities, or the community coming together to remember those who are no longer with us at remembrance events, it has all added to the achievements of this school.

    Bury Church of England High School Sponsored by: BUTCHER & BARLOW, Solicitors & Notaries MAY 2016 HEADTEACHER’S REFLECTION At this time of year, we are all looking forward to the return of the sun as we move into the summer months. The school is settling down to the annual routine of GCSE examinations, having commissioned our Year 11 pupils at Bury Parish Church on Thursday 12 May. The day was a very enjoyable time with a „This is your life at Bury CE High School‟ assembly followed by a special commissioning meal in the suitably decorated School Hall. The pupils reflected on who was most likely to go on to various achievements such as Prime Minister before getting ready to move up to Bury Parish church for their commissioning service. The service was led by the Bury Parish Church School Chaplain, Rev Rhiannon Jones, and the Rector presided at communion. We welcomed many parents, grand-parents and friends of the school to join us at the service. After the event, I received a letter from one of the departing Year 11 pupils who wrote “After the excellent and emotional commissioning service yesterday, I felt obliged to write this letter of thanks to you and your incredible team of staff for the brilliant experience I have had at our exemplary school.” Quite a compliment from someone who knows what the school really has to offer. One of the things that is distinctive about Bury CE High School is its commitment to learning in a world context. We believe in the Global Dimension to learning and seek to set our learning in an international context.
