Each of these institutions had a proud record of educational excellence, opening up opportunities and new horizons for the young people of Salford and surrounding areas. I was fortunate enough to attend De La Salle College and I will always be grateful to those who gave me a first- class education and a great start in life. Now, as the Principal of Pendleton Sixth Form College, I am committed to continuing that tradition of excellence and high standards so that everyone can achieve their full potential. We have selected just a few members of our diverse curriculum team to highlight the outstanding skills and experience we have at Pendleton Sixth Form College. NEIL G. BENNETT MA (Cantab), FRCO, PGCE Head of the Centre of Excellence for Performing Arts A professional organist, Neil was awarded a scholarship at Chetham’s School of Music and then went on to Cambridge University. He then began his professional career as a conductor of choirs and orchestras and was the musical director at The Players’ Theatre in London’s West End. During his extensive career with the American Musical Company of New York and the Broadway Musical Company, Neil lived in New York and arranged and conducted musicals for productions in the USA and Europe. DAVID SMITH BA, MA Head of English David is a passionate creative writer who has written two plays and co-written a third. Mother’s Ruin, was performed at The Lowry in Salford, and was co-written by David and one of his ex- English and drama A-level students, Tom Arrowsmith, who is now studying acting in New York. Two of David’s plays, Sophia’s Ashes and The Porter, were performed at The Studio at The Lowry as rehearsed readings. Further to this, an extract from Sophia’s Ashes was performed in the West End. CATH STANLEY BA Teacher of Photography, Creative Arts & Design Cath works with a lens-based collective, FORM, which creates work for major international photography festivals and exhibitions. As well as creating her own work, she is supportive of others in the industry, and runs social media sites and events to promote the work of other female photographers working in landscape. Cath has gained her Permission for Commercial Operation (PFCO) from the Civil Aviation Authority to fly drones commercially, which has benefited and influenced the work of both herself and her students. JON GRIFFIN BSc, PhD, PGCE Head of the Centre of Excellence for STEM Jon studied for a BSc (Hons) degree in Medicinal Chemistry followed by a PhD at the University of Manchester. He then started his career in the pharmaceutical sector; ultimately becoming responsible for the development and manufacture of new medications for a variety of therapeutic areas. When the company re-located, Jon decided to become a teacher and now helps to improve the lives of students from a variety of different backgrounds within the scientific field. 4 4 ANDREW CLOW BSc, MSc, PhD Teacher of Maths Andrew has an unlimited enthusiasm for mathematics, which is how he ended up with a PhD in Maths from the University of Warwick. He currently teaches A-level Maths, A-level Further Maths and the Core Maths courses and loves the variety, depth and breadth of what he teaches. He has taught at Pendleton Sixth Form College since 2002 and says he has stayed for so many years due to the passion of both his students and his colleagues.

Although provided primarily for school students, members of the public may use these services. Services are listed alphabetically under school names. An introduction to School buses and concessionary fares for students in Greater Manchester Passengers can pay a fare to the driver for each journey shown on this timetable. However, students will need to show an IGO pass to travel at the concessionary (reduced) fare. If students do not have an IGO pass, they will have to pay a higher fare. Most of the journeys shown in this timetable are funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The majority of TfGM funded services charge a standard fare and also offer daily return tickets. In some cases, the return ticket can also be used for travel on other journeys which serve similar areas – even if it is provided by a different operator.
