This list will be Tupdated as new resources are recommended and older ones are no longer available. A list of core (CORE) learning resources can be found on the Ministry of Education website. (CAN) indicates that a Canadian contributed to the development of the resource and/or that it includes Canadian content. (SK) indicates that a Saskatchewan person contributed to the development of the resource and/or that it includes Saskatchewan content. Other resources beyond those recommended in this list may effectively supportArts Education 9. It remains the responsibility of educators to preview and select materials that best meet the needs of their students, school, and community. Educators should choose resources in accordance with their school division’s learning resources selection policy. In Night of Perun, the Ukrainian Shumka Dancers illustrate the dire consequences of a young woman’s blind faith in a vengeful god, Perun, who demands human sacrifice (24 min.). Shumka: Return of the Whirlwind follows Canada’s Ukrainian Shumka Dancers on a tour of Ukraine. It features scenes from performances as well as behind-the-scenes shots and interviews. This tour provided an opportunity for the group members to take pride in their heritage and to define their Canadian identity (58 min.).
