New routes and new experience from professional geo-guides offered by the “BOCHK fully supports – Geopark Charity Green Walk”

Bank of China (Hong Kong) (“BOCHK”) will organise a new series of the BOCHK fully supports – Hong Kong Geopark Charity Green Walk (“Charity Green Walk”) eco-tours for general public every Saturday from 17 April to 18 December 2010, following the overwhelming response of the Charity Green Walk which brings together charity and environmental protection under one roof. Professional geological experts from the Geological Society of Hong Kong and experienced eco-guides will introduce the geological features and eco-environment of Hong Kong, in order to enhance public awareness on conservation of ecological environment. The Charity Green Walk is fully supported by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, the Geological Society of Hong Kong, Council, Tai Po District Council, North District Council, Polar Museum Foundation and HK Discovery.

Four new routes covering , East Dam of Reservoir, Ma Shi Chau and Island will be introduced, in addition to the two original routes of Northeast Sedimentary Rock Region (Grass Island) and Sai Kung Volcanic Rock Region (Sharp Island and Jin Island) which will be enhanced. Over 100 BOCHK staff members volunteered as eco-ambassadors will offer assistance during the tours.

In support of “Green” education, the BOCHK Charitable Foundation will continually sponsor all relevant costs. Each participant is required to pay an enrolment fee of HK$30, which will be donated to Polar Museum Foundation for educational and conservation causes.

Starting from 9:00pm (Hong Kong time) on 30 March 2010 (Tuesday), interested parties may visit www.bochk.com for enrolment in eco-tours to be held from 17 April to 28 August. Due to limited capacity, all eco-tours will be available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Page 1 of 3 To echo the theme of the Charity Green Walk, BOCHK organised the Hong Kong Geopark Photo Competition for hiking fans and photographers. Entries should capture the natural beauty of the Hong Kong Geopark. The competition is open to all Hong Kong residents of any age. Entries should be submitted during the period from 2 August to 31 August.

All entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges comprising of professional photographers and photographic associations, with “Thematic Approach, Creativity, Layout, Technique” as the selection criteria. The winners of the grand prize, second prize and third prize will each receive a cash prize of HK$20,000, HK$10,000 and HK$5,000 respectively, together with a commemorative trophy; whereas the winners of the 30 Merit Awards will each receive a cash prize of HK$1,000 and a certificate of merit.

Results will be announced in September on www.bochk.com as well as in newspapers. Winners will be notified individually by mail. All winning entries and selected works will be exhibited at the Lobby of the Bank of China Tower or other public display venues.

Entrants are required to submit the completed entry form(s) together with the entry(ies) by post to Corporate Marketing & Communications, Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited, 13/F, Bank of China Tower, 1 Garden Road, Central, Hong Kong, in an envelope marked BOCHK “Hong Kong Geopark” Photo Competition.
