SWIM WALES NOFIO CYMRU ANNUAL REPORT & ACCOUNTS 2019 – 2020 OUR VISION Aquatics for everyone for life. OUR MISSION A world leading NGB delivering excellence, inspiring our nation to enjoy, participate, learn and compete in Welsh Aquatics. 04 // CHAIRMAN REPORT 05 // CHIEF EXECUTIVE REPORT 06 // AQUATIC DEVELOPMENT 08 // BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT 09 // ELITE & PERFORMANCE 12 // EQUALITY 13 // GOVERNANCE 16 // ACCOUNTS 14 // SAFEGUARDING CHAIRMAN REPORT CHAIRMAN REPORT, SWIM WALES ANNUAL REPORT Y/E 31ST MARCH 2020 Although the last six months has certainly proved to be a turbulent period for all of us, I am delighted to testify that the full year prior to lockdown at the end of March 2020, proved a very significant year for Swim Wales. Considerable steps were made towards achieving our vision of “Aquatics for Everyone for Life”. We not only delivered outstanding performances at local, regional, national, and international events but sustained the focus on our core governance policies including, financial stability, resilience, equality, inclusivity, welfare and safeguarding. Whilst our clubs and members are the beating heart of their own communities, as the responsible NGB, they also remain at the very centre of why we do what we do. This means we are committed to absolute inclusivity and flexibility in our approach to the advancement of aquatics, and in all our discussions with members, volunteers, clubs, and partners. Over 17% of the population in Wales, some 400,000 adults and 100,000 children, were engaged in swimming, learn-to-swim, or aquatic activity, at least once a week pre-lock down. However, one of our greatest strengths is the huge breadth of our aquatic activities, from learn-to-swim right up to our elite performance champions.

  • Swimming: British Roster for Budapest Is Already Known
https://www.fina-budapest2017.com/en/news/431/swimming-british-roster-for-budapest-is-already-known Swimming: British roster for Budapest is already known 2017.04.25. 15:38 CET A 29-strong British Swimming team has been selected to compete at this summer’s FINA World Championships in Budapest – official British Swimming announcement said. Olympic Champion Adam Peaty and Olympic medallists Jazz Carlin, Siobhan-Marie O’Connor, James Guy, Duncan Scott, Stephen Milne and Chris Walker-Hebborn will be joined by a group of emerging younger swimmers with some making their senior international debut – readable in the communique of British Swimming. Photo: Team GB/Facebook Head coach Bill Furniss is satisfied about the productions and times. ’I think it was a typical first selection competition following an Olympic Games. Some of our athletes that were successful in Rio, and had an extended break afterwards, did well yet others did not fire on all cylinders. This is to be expected. The high number of records achieved last week didn’t surprise me. If we are to compete on the world stage you have to show continual improvement and that is what we saw at the Championships. We’ve already got one eye on Tokyo and therefore we want to introduce that next generation of elite swimmers to world class arenas. They did a good job in putting themselves forward but now the work starts again as we build towards the World Championships in Budapest in July’ – said by Bill Furniss. The British Swimming team set for the World Championships comprises: Adam Peaty, Jocelyn Ulyett, Max Litchfield, Duncan Scott, Ben Proud Hannah Miley, Chris Walker-Hebborn, James Guy, Calum Jarvis, Nick Grainger, Ross Murdoch, Molly Renshaw, Daniel Jervis, Charlotte Atkinson, Georgia Davies, Sarah Vasey, Alys Thomas, Freya Anderson, Stephen Milne, James Wilby, Aimee Willmott, Holly Hibbott, Siobhan-Marie O'Connor Jazz Carlin, Abbie Wood, Rosie Rudin, Mark Szaranek, Luke Greenbank, Kathleen Dawson.

  • 2020 Edinburgh International Swim Meet Welcome – East District
2020 EDINBURGH INTERNATIONAL SWIM MEET WELCOME – EAST DISTRICT On behalf of the East District management team, I welcome everyone to the Royal Commonwealth Pool for the 2020 Edinburgh International Swim Meet. The East District extends a warm welcome to the many returning swimmers, coaches and officials and also to all those attending this year’s event for the very first time. “Come on in! You’ll have had your tea?” is the perennial tease put about - jocularly - by Scotland’s larger city with reference to Edinburgh hospitality. However, in truth Edinburgh is and historically always has been a very outward- looking city, receptive and welcoming to people, culture and influences from far and wide, from European influences during the Scottish Enlightenment and before, to genuinely becoming a “worldwide city” (and indeed World Heritage City) today. We are proud that this is a truly International Meet with overseas athletes from Denmark, France, Belgium, Ireland, Faroe Islands and Spain all planning to visit and support from the very best of youth and elite swimming from across the home nations. Unfortunately a number of our international visitors have been unable to travel from their home nations due to their Government’s restrictions – we hope to see them in Edinburgh next year. We look forward to packed and exciting finals sessions each evening when our younger age group swimmers can rub shoulders with elite swimmers from around the world and take inspiration from them. I have no doubt there will be many highlights and new memories made for elite swimmers and age-group swimmers alike.
