In a game in which the Hawks never trailed, East came away with a 58-48 win. East led by 14 at the half, but a late come-back attempt cut the home teams margin and put the Firebirds back in it late in the contest. Some excellent free throw shooting by senior Jackson See helped East hold off West and come file:///C|/Users/michoch/Desktop/leh_res_wint17_18.html[3/13/2018 11:13:10 AM] Lakota East Athletic Results- Winter 2006-07 Season away with their 5th straight win. Senior Jarrett Cox led East with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Alex Mangold was 3-4 beyond the arc and contributed 14. Next up East will host GMC leader Princeton (10-2, 7-0) Tuesday night in the Hawks Nest. 1/23 Princeton lost 47- 9-6 6-3 The Hawks boys bball team faced the area's #1 team Tuesday night. East 45 gave the GMC's undefeated Princeton Vikings everything they wanted but fell just short of a setup losing 47-45. The game was an outstanding display of talent on both sides of the ball, and featured many lead changes. East trailed by one going into the fourth quarter and actually had a chance to tie or win in the final seconds, but a desparation three-point heave was off the mark and the Vikings escaped. Senior Jarrett Cox showed everyone why he can compete against any player or team, leading the scoring for both teams with 23 points. Jarrett also had the dubious task all night of guarding one of the top players in the country, Darius Bazley, holding him to a season low of just 7 points. Cox was unstoppable hitting 6 of 7 from behind the arc and 8-16 from the field. There many other outstanding contriubutions in the loss. The defeat snapped a 5-game winning streak. East (9-6, 6-3) will not get much rest when Oak Hills comes to the Hawks Nest this Friday night.
