Takehiko Nakao is the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Chairperson of ADB’s Board of Directors. He was elected President by ADB’s Board of Governors and assumed office in April 2013.

Before joining ADB, Mr. Nakao was the Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs at the Ministry of Finance of Japan.

In a career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Nakao has gained extensive experience in international finance and development. He has held senior positions in the Ministry of Finance in Japan, which he joined in 1978, including Director-General of the International Bureau, where he fostered close ties with leading figures in the Asia-Pacific region, and G20 nations.

He was assigned as Minister at the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C., between 2005 and 2007, and from 1994 to 1997 served as economist and advisor at the International Monetary Fund. He has published books and numerous papers on financial and economic issues, and in 2010 and 2011 was a Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo.

Born in 1956, Mr. Nakao holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley.

Bambang Susantono Vice President, Sustainable Development and Knowledge Management Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Bambang Susantono is the Vice President for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He assumed his position is July 2015.

Bambang Susantono is responsible for management of ADB’s Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department, and Department of External Relations.

Prior to this, Bambang Susantono was the Vice Minister of Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation and Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development. Her has extensive experience providing policy advice to government , private sector organizations and international institutions. He chaired several research institutes an taught in universities. He was also Commissioner for airline, port, telecommunications and media companies. Jungong Sun Vice President Alibaba Group

Sun Jungong is the Vice-President of Alibaba Group and Director of Alibaba Intellectual Property Research Institute. He has held position as the press secretary of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC). He has long been engaged in judicial policy research of law on platform, intellectual property research on e-commerce and law application research of criminal law.

He is the author of Analysis on the Legalization of Circular Economy and Crime of Financial Fraud. Besides, he co- authored more than 10 works, mainly including Exact Explanation for Accusations of Criminal Law and Modification and Application of the Criminal Law.

Chiara Bronchi Deputy Director General concurrently Chief Thematic Officer, Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Chiara Bronchi is Deputy Director General concurrently Chief Thematic Officer of Asian Development Bank’s Thematic Advisory Service Cluster under the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department. Chiara is mainly responsible for leading the planning, implementation and supervision of the Thematic Advisory Service Cluster’s vision, goals, and work plan of six thematic groups: Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, Gender Equity, Governance, Social Development, Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Security, and NGO and Civil Society.

Prior to joining ADB, she was the Practice Manager for Governance Global Practice in the World Bank where she oversaw leading operations and non-lending technical assistance on public sector management, revenue mobilization, SOEs, fiscal policy, judiciary reforms, and e-government and open government reforms.

Chiara has over 25 years of experience in managing multi-stakeholders and multi-disciplinary projects gained in various international organizations namely the UN, IMF, OECD and the World Bank. She started her professional career as Economic Adviser at HM Inland Revenue (UK). She joined the OECD in 1998 as Young Professional, then the IMF in 2003 to pursue her career as Economist. She was also the Head of the Fiscal Affairs Office at the UN Mission in the Republic of Kosovo before joining the World Bank in 2008 as Country Manager for Tajikistan Country Office, then became Lead Public Sector and Governance Specialist in 2012 and later Practice Manager.

A national of Italy, she holds a PhD in Economics, a Master’s degree in Economics from University College of London, United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Universita’ degli Studi di Bologna, Italy. Claus Andresen President SAP Southeast Asia

Claus Andresen is the President and Managing Director for SAP Southeast Asia (SEA). He is responsible for business strategy, operations, P&L, and sustainable growth for SAP across SEA, building on SAP’s success in its 28-year establishment in the region. He leads high-performing teams across the Republic of Singapore, Malaysia, Kingdom of Thailand, Republic of Indonesia, Republic of the Philippines, Viet Nam and other emerging markets in SEA. Prior to this, Andresen was the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for SAP Indian Subcontinent, where he provided leadership and direction to SAP’s multifunctional sales and operations organization in the Republic of India. During his tenure, SAP India accelerated to become the Market Unit of the Year in 2016.

In his previous roles within SAP, he was responsible for Business Operations across Asia-Pacific & Japan (APJ) with the charter to improve Sales and Operational Excellence. Before joining SAP’s Global Customer Operations (GCO) organization Andresen spent more than a decade in various Global and Regional Senior Leadership roles in SAP’s Services & Support organization (now Digital Business Services), and his last responsibility was to manage the Consulting Practices and Innovation Adoption Centers across the APJ region.

Andresen holds a Master of Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and has taken a number of certification programs at INSEAD and Stanford University.

Ramanan Ramanathan is the Senior Vice President of Tata Consultancy Services, prior to this he was the Managing Director & CEO of CMC Ltd. A subsidiary of Tata Consultancy Services. He led the rapid transformation of CMC Ltd. from a government organisation to a global systems engineering & integration organisation, leading to a successful amalgamation with Tata Consultancy Services in 2015.

Cyn-Young is the director of the Regional Cooperation and Integration Division (ERCI) of the Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department (ERCD) of the Asian Development Bank. which undertakes economic and policy research and capacity building, supports ADB operations, and networks with the international research community. ERD is also responsible for producing Country Diagnostic Studies, which evaluate development constraints on ADB’s developing member countries. Ms. Park specializes in Asian macroeconomics, notably country diagnostics, development policies, and the economic implications of external shocks, such as the global financial crisis. Lito Tayag is the Country Managing Director (CMD) of Accenture, Inc. Brajesh Panth Chief of Education Sector Group Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Brajesh Panth is the Chief of Education Sector Group at the Asian Development Bank. He provides technical lead- ership to the education sector group (ESG) in ADB, leads the preparation of the ESG work plan and facilitates collaboration across sector and technical groups in ADB and with external partners. He has over 25 years of ex- perience in the education sector including sector assessment, project processing, implementation, evaluation, and policy dialogue, covering all levels—primary, secondary, technical and vocational education and training (TVET), and higher education. Panth holds a doctorate in education administration, planning and social policy from Harvard University and a Mas- ter in Business Administration from the University of New Hampshire, United States of America. Besides coordi- nating and contributing to several publications, Mr. Panth has made several presentations in different fora and con- tributed to policy analysis, policy dialogue and analytical work pertaining to different aspects of education reform. David Hung is a Professor at the National Institute of Education of Nanyang Technological University, Republic of Singapore. David holds the appointment as Dean at the Office of Education Research. He is concurrently the Di- rector of the Center for Research in Pedagogy and Practice. His previous appointment as the Head of the eduLab initiative require him to delve into the change of social-cultural practices in the context of schools in Singapore. He specializes in social cultural orientations to cognition to socio-emotional learning, in particular, communities of practice and apprenticeship forms of learning. In 2004, David initiated the set-up of the Learning Sciences Laboratory. He has been involved in the ICT Master- Plan initiative by the Ministry of Education since its inception in 1997 and has witnessed its evolution over the years in terms of student-centred inquiry learning mediated through technologies. Steve McKee is the President and founder of Labtech International, which addresses the needs of technology ed- ucation around the world. He is also on the governing executive council of World Didac (the largest international education industry association). Au Soriano Co-Founder and CEO PinoyTravel

Au Soriano is an Engineer and after being in the telecom industry for 20+ years, she decided in 2013, to leave the corporate world and be an entrepreneur. She joined a startup competition and pitched a unique concept for locating public buses and book a trip online. Her team won the funding and launched and in PinoyTravel in October 2013. It is interesting to note that early adopters of the service are students. PinoyTravel has since grown and expanded the service to cover ferry services. Keiko Nowacka Social Development Specialist, Gender and Development Thematic Group Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Keiko Nowacka is a Social Development Specialist (Gender and Development) at the Asian Development Bank. As part of the SDTC-GEN team, Keiko is supporting quality assurance of gender mainstreaming efforts in ADB operations, and promoting ADB’s evidence base on gender equality through technical assistance and knowledge production projects.

Prior to joining ADB, Keiko led the gender team at the OECD Development Centre (2013–2017). As part of that role, she managed the Social Institutions and Gender Index (SIGI), and led research to produce new analysis on the impacts of social norms for gender and development. She has worked closely on the SDG 5 indicator framework, and developed new partnerships with UN Women, ILO and other development partners.

Throughout her career, Keiko has always been strongly committed to gender equality and development. She has held positions at the OECD and UNESCO (2010–2013); at UNESCO she led an editorial team for the first UNE- SCO Report on Gender equality and culture (2014) and worked to mainstream gender equality across the Culture Sector. In 2008–2009, she was a Project manager at Camfed, an NGO focusing on girls’ secondary education in sub-Saharan Africa.

A Polish and Australian national, Keiko was born in Lao People’s Democratic Republic before migrating to the Commonwealth of Australia. She obtained a BA Hons on gender history at the University of Sydney and a PhD in women’s history at the University of Cambridge. She was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at King’s College, London, United Kingdom. She speaks French and English.

Linartes Viloria National Project Coordinator Women in STEM, International Labour Organization

Lites is the National Project Coordinator of the Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) Programme of the International Labour Organization, a specialized agency of the United Nations. The goal of the programme is to encourage more girls to choose to take Technology courses, and to help more women working in STEM-related occupations. The programme seeks to strengthen linkages between private sector firms, sectoral business associations and technical and vocational training centres to ensure greater opportunity through higher entry, retention and advancement of women workers in STEM-related positions. The programme is supported by JP Morgan Philanthropy, and is being implemented in three countries, namely, Republic of Indonesia, Kingdom of Thailand and the Republic of the Philippines. Before working with the ILO she was the CEO of Edukasyon.ph, an education tech startup that helps young people find the right education for the careers they aspire for. Prior to working in a tech startup, she worked for more than 7 years, as the Chief of the Advocacy and Publications Division of the Institute for Labor Studies, the policy research and advocacy arm of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). At the Institute, she was the focal person for the Joint Programme on Youth Employment and Migration with the United Nations which focused on helping young people get information on finding jobs and preparing for these jobs.

Anita Gurumurthy is a founding member and executive director of IT for Change, where she leads research collaborations and projects in relation to the network society, with a focus on governance, democracy and gender justice. Her work reflects a keen interest in southern frameworks and the political economy of Internet governance and data and surveillance. Anita engages actively with policy makers, practitioners, social movements activists and the academic community to expand and deepen conversations on the public policy imperatives of the intertwining of the digital in all spheres of life. She also directs and draws inspiration from the work of Prakriye, IT for Change’s field centre, that works towards promoting women’s and girls’ leadership and digital capabilities.

Virginia Tan is the co-founder and president of Lean In China, a women's platform with over 100,000 members across more than 25 cities and 100 universities in People's Republic of China, which supports the goals and aspi- rations of Chinese women. She co-founded She Loves Tech, a global initiative focusing on technology by women and technology for women, which also houses the world's largest competition for women tech entrepreneurs, held across more than 10 international locations. She is also the founding partner of Teja Ventures, Asia's first gender lens venture capital fund, which targets early stage women impact companies. Virginia's background is in law and finance, where she was an experienced finance lawyer for more than 8 years specialising on energy, resources and infrastructure sectors in emerging markets, and has worked in , Middle East, Asia, Africa and South America for 2 magic circle firms. She moved to Beijing in 2013 to work on strategic in- vestments related to the "One Belt One Road" initiative on behalf of Chinese state owned companies and financial institutions. Her work has been covered by Forbes, the Financial Times, Bloomberg Businessweek, BBC, CCTV, etc. She has spoken at some leading institutions such as Alibaba, Baidu, Bloomberg, Dell, Disney, DSM, General Electric, P&G, HP, Medtronic, Peking University, Tsinghua University, UNICEF, UN Women, etc. Christine Jeanne Violago Lead, Partner Development and Management Grameen Foundation

Christine Violago is the Lead for Partner Development and Management at Grameen Foundation (GF) in the Re- public of the Philippines. She is responsible for strengthening the pipeline for strategic collaborations for programs on mobile agriculture and financial services, including the WomenLink initiative. For 2018, WomenLink aims drive the usage and awareness of digital channels by registering 20,000 women as recipients of an SMS based extension for financial and digital literacy. In2016 , Christine also managed GF’s Community Agent Network (CAN) Program with the goal of establishing a shared agent network that allowed end-users to conduct financial services or trans- actions within their villages. As of January 2018, CAN was able to onboard 1,896 agents, 75% of which are women, catering to 423 barangays nationwide. Prior to GF, Christine spent 2 years working as the Vice President of Operations for their family-owned­ rice mill in Nueva Ecija. Here, she honed her entrepreneurial skills and had day-to-day touch points with smallholder rice farmers as well as local business agents. Her passion for regional integration was further strengthened through her participation as Executive Director of the working committee for the APEC Voices of the Future 2015 Program in Manila. After graduation, she worked for World Youth Alliance as Regional Director for Asia Pacific focusing on promoting human dignity though policy, educational programs and cultural events. Christine holds a Master's Degree in Development Economics from the University of the Philippines-Diliman and a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Development Studies from De La Salle University, Manila.

Sonomi Tanaka Chief of Gender Equity Thematic Group SDTC, Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Sonomi Tanaka is the Chief of the Gender Equity Thematic Group of the Asian Development Bank. She facilitates knowledge management on gender and development in ADB and coordinates gender mainstreaming initiatives across different departments and through different sector and thematic groups. She is responsible for overseeing and providing advice on ADB-wide operations in support of gender equality and women’s empowerment. Sonomi has worked on gender and development, poverty reduction, social analysis, social protection, and commu- nity participation issues in Asia and the Pacific for nearly 20 years. She has covered a number of sectors including education, finance, health, infrastructure, natural resources management, public sector management, and urban development. Prior to working with ADB, Sonomi worked in the World Bank’s South Asia Department and in development insti- tutions in Japan. She holds a Master of Arts on Gender and Development from the Institute of Development Studies, Sussex Univer- sity and a post-graduate diploma on development studies from the Institute of Developing Economies Advanced School in Japan. She has a bachelor’s degree on International Relations from the University of Tokyo. Wendy M. Walker Chief of Social Development Thematic Group SDTC, Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB)

Wendy is Chief of Social Development Thematic Group at the Asian Development Bank. She is the team leader for the regional technical assistance program funded by JFPR and the e-Asia Fund on Strengthening Capacity for Developing Member Countries in Elderly Care and ADB’s first loans on developing elderly care systems in the People’s Republic of China. Previously she worked on social sectors and urban projects in the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia.

Sreenivas Narayanan Managing Director Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sustainable Transformation (ASSIST)

Sreeni Narayanan is the Founder and Group Managing Director of Asia Society for Social Improvement and Sus- tainable Transformation (ASSIST), an innovative and capacity-building international non-government organiza- tion (NGO) that promotes sustainable practices to partner development organizations. A Chemical Engineer by profession with an MBA from the Asian Institute of Management tucked under his belt, he has led ASSIST in managing projects in over 20 countries across Asia and maintaining offices in four – the Republic of the Philippines, its headquarters; India; Viet Nam; and, Kingdom of Cambodia. Alongside these development partnerships, he has led organization’s Social Actions projects, which are all internally conceptualized and independently managed by ASSIST with the aim of challenging conventional thinking, sparking positive change, and building enduring cooperation for progress in areas such as education, technology, human rights, environment, among others. He is also behind ASSIST’s other social ventures, which include Impact Magazine (formerly ‘AsianNGO Magazine’), a first-of-its-kind mixed media magazine that aims to provide NGOs opportunities to find funds, partners and relevant learning resources for better organizational and program management. Thampy Koshy has over 30 years of experience in conceptualization, drafting enabling policies, design, develop- ment & implementation of various large scale IT transformation projects. At present he is a Senior Partner with Ernst & Young based out of India focusing on advisory services to Government and Public Sector. He leads Digital Solution for Government in the areas of Identity and Identity based solutions, Health, Social Security and Public Finance Management in EY India. As a part of this practice he has led a number of projects including the Program Management for the ambitious Unique ID Project (UID) of India which has enrolled about 1.2 billion residents in India, Projects that build services including Direct Benefit Transfer based on UID and so on. Prior to this he has led implementation of some of the most successful e-Governance projects in India in the domain of Capital Markets, Direct and Indirect tax Administration, Central Record Keeping Agency (CRA) for Pensions etc. As a part of the Tax Modernisation project he was also responsible for designing, implementing and operating issuance and maintenance of national unique Tax ID now used by about 200 million taxpayers. He led the ambitious Tax Information Network project for re-engineering and automation of key processes for both direct and indirect tax in India. He has been a key resource in development of IT strategy and IT architecture for implementation of Goods & Service Tax Project in India. Koshy has extremely rich experience in management and implementation of IT projects which focus to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness & transparency of large scale government processes while improving the accessibility of services offered by the government to its stakeholders.

Kyriacos Koupparis Science, Technology, and Innovation Advisor, Asian USAID-Regional Development Mission in Asia

Kyriacos Koupparis currently serves as USAID’s senior innovation expert and provides direct technical support to USAID missions, U.S. embassies and government officials in the Asia region,while liaising with multilateral bodies and foreign government representatives to promote the use of science, technology, and innovation for sustainable development. Koupparis has worked at USAID and the Department of State for the last six years where he gained experience with open innovation,prizes and challenges, human-centered design, ICT4D, and science partnerships. He has worked in 15 countries throughout Latin America, the Middle East and North Africa, and Asia. Kyriacos holds aPh.D. and a M.S. in Biomedical Sciences from the University of California, San Francisco. Victoria Austin Director, Global Disability Innovation Hub Head of Paralympic Legacy, Inclusion and Sport, London Legacy

Victoria is Director of Strategy and Partnerships at the GDI Hub. GDI is a non-profit social company well as a re- search center led by UCL. GDI is a partnership of public, private, community, educational and cultural institutions, which emerged from the legacy from the Paralympic Games in London. That is led by a board of disabled people from three continents and the chair is Paralympian and Member of the British Parliament, Lord Chris Holmes MBE. Victoria is the Programme Director for the DFID-funded AT2030 programme; leading a partnership of global agen- cies (including UCL, WHO, Clinton Health Access Initiative, UNICEF, Leonard Cheshire, and more than 20 aca- demic and community partners) to address the global gap in access to assistive technology which affects almost a billion people. AT2030 is a flagship initial investment under the newly established ATscale initiative (of which GDI is a founding partner) which seeks to reach 500 million people with AT by 2030.

Previously, Victoria was Head of Paralympic Legacy, Inclusion and Sports Participation at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park where she led the Paralympic Legacy Programme pre and post 2012. The Programme saw over £10m invested across the spectrum of disability arts and sports; jobs, skills and volunteering; inclusive design; National Paralym- pic Day Festival; and Mandeville Place - a public space to celebrate the Paralympics. It has been called the most successful legacy programme from any Paralympics. The Community Sport programme reached over half a million people. Victoria has a background in social development and has previously worked for development agencies (public and private), as well as NGOs. Emma M. Veve is Director of Urban, Social Development and Public Management Division in the Pacific Depart- ment of the Asian Development Bank. Veve’s division is responsible for (i) urban development, (ii) social develop- ment, (iii) public management and economics, (iv) fragile and conflict-affected situations, (v) and information and communications technology activities across the 14 Pacific development member countries. As Director, she has overseen ADB’s financing of submarine cables providing broadband internet connectivity for the Pacific islands. Akmal Siddiq is the Chief of Rural Development and Food Security (Agriculture) thematic group, SDCC at the Asian Development Bank. He is a natural resource economist with extensive experience in sustainable develop- ment. He is a native of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Prior to joining ADB in February 1998, he worked for several international organizations. After his Master’s, he worked for a USAID project in Islamabad preparing policy papers that supported government’s decision-making on agricultural research, trade, and agribusiness development. In 2015 Ibrar khan started working on developing VAS and other software development for Telecom companies, in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Lotte is the Chief of Finance Sector Group under the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department of the Asian Development Bank. Basheerhamad Shadrach is the Asia Coordinator for the World Wide Web Foundation- a not-for-profit organisa- tion founded by Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web - for its Alliance for Affordable Internet program. In this capacity, Shadrach helps to build coalitions of private, public and civil society organizations to advance the shared aim of affordable access to both mobile and fixed broadband internet in Asia. During his tenure at IDRC, also as the global head of telecentre.org Academy program, Shadrach developed the ecosystem for training one million knowledge workers at the grassroots around the world. In partnership with ITU, Shadrach was the key person behind the lunch of the “Telecentre Women: Digital Literacy Campaign” which offered digital skills to over 1 Million women worldwide in March 2014. Basheerhamad Shadrach was the global coordinator of the Grassroots Caucus at WSIS in Geneva and Tunis. He also led the G8 DotForce funded, Open Knowledge Network in Asia. As the Global Head of Transparency Interna- tional, Shadrach helped to launch the first ever global knowledge resource on Anti-Corruption in the 11th IACC in Seoul in 2003.
