4-5 September 2018 • Asian Development Bank, Manila, Philippines Takehiko Nakao President Asian Development Bank (ADB) Takehiko Nakao is the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Chairperson of ADB’s Board of Directors. He was elected President by ADB’s Board of Governors and assumed office in April 2013. Before joining ADB, Mr. Nakao was the Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs at the Ministry of Finance of Japan. In a career spanning more than three decades, Mr. Nakao has gained extensive experience in international finance and development. He has held senior positions in the Ministry of Finance in Japan, which he joined in 1978, including Director-General of the International Bureau, where he fostered close ties with leading figures in the Asia-Pacific region, and G20 nations. He was assigned as Minister at the Embassy of Japan in Washington D.C., between 2005 and 2007, and from 1994 to 1997 served as economist and advisor at the International Monetary Fund. He has published books and numerous papers on financial and economic issues, and in 2010 and 2011 was a Visiting Professor at the University of Tokyo. Born in 1956, Mr. Nakao holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley. Bambang Susantono Vice President, Sustainable Development and Knowledge Management Asian Development Bank (ADB) Bambang Susantono is the Vice President for Knowledge Management and Sustainable Development of the Asian Development Bank (ADB). He assumed his position is July 2015. Bambang Susantono is responsible for management of ADB’s Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Economic Research and Regional Cooperation Department, and Department of External Relations. Prior to this, Bambang Susantono was the Vice Minister of Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation and Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development. Her has extensive experience providing policy advice to government , private sector organizations and international institutions. He chaired several research institutes an taught in universities. He was also Commissioner for airline, port, telecommunications and media companies. Jungong Sun Vice President Alibaba Group Sun Jungong is the Vice-President of Alibaba Group and Director of Alibaba Intellectual Property Research Institute. He has held position as the press secretary of the Supreme People’s Court (SPC). He has long been engaged in judicial policy research of law on platform, intellectual property research on e-commerce and law application research of criminal law. He is the author of Analysis on the Legalization of Circular Economy and Crime of Financial Fraud. Besides, he co- authored more than 10 works, mainly including Exact Explanation for Accusations of Criminal Law and Modification and Application of the Criminal Law. Chiara Bronchi Deputy Director General concurrently Chief Thematic Officer, Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department, Asian Development Bank (ADB) Chiara Bronchi is Deputy Director General concurrently Chief Thematic Officer of Asian Development Bank’s Thematic Advisory Service Cluster under the Sustainable Development and Climate Change Department. Chiara is mainly responsible for leading the planning, implementation and supervision of the Thematic Advisory Service Cluster’s vision, goals, and work plan of six thematic groups: Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management, Gender Equity, Governance, Social Development, Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Security, and NGO and Civil Society. Prior to joining ADB, she was the Practice Manager for Governance Global Practice in the World Bank where she oversaw leading operations and non-lending technical assistance on public sector management, revenue mobilization, SOEs, fiscal policy, judiciary reforms, and e-government and open government reforms. Chiara has over 25 years of experience in managing multi-stakeholders and multi-disciplinary projects gained in various international organizations namely the UN, IMF, OECD and the World Bank. She started her professional career as Economic Adviser at HM Inland Revenue (UK). She joined the OECD in 1998 as Young Professional, then the IMF in 2003 to pursue her career as Economist. She was also the Head of the Fiscal Affairs Office at the UN Mission in the Republic of Kosovo before joining the World Bank in 2008 as Country Manager for Tajikistan Country Office, then became Lead Public Sector and Governance Specialist in 2012 and later Practice Manager. A national of Italy, she holds a PhD in Economics, a Master’s degree in Economics from University College of London, United Kingdom and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Universita’ degli Studi di Bologna, Italy. Claus Andresen President SAP Southeast Asia Claus Andresen is the President and Managing Director for SAP Southeast Asia (SEA). He is responsible for business strategy, operations, P&L, and sustainable growth for SAP across SEA, building on SAP’s success in its 28-year establishment in the region. Before joining SAP’s Global Customer Operations (GCO) organization Andresen spent more than a decade in various Global and Regional Senior Leadership roles in SAP’s Services & Support organization (now Digital Business Services), and his last responsibility was to manage the Consulting Practices and Innovation Adoption Centers across the APJ region. Andresen holds a Master of Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School and Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore and has taken a number of certification programs at INSEAD and Stanford University. He is passionate about helping governments and businesses achieve their aspirations by leveraging technology.
