Introduction

This WHITE PAPER is an initiative part of the Project Danube House – regional identity for economic development – funded by the Romania – Bulgaria Cross – Border Cooperation Program 2007 – 2013. The project is implemented by The Foundation for Democracy, Culture and Liberty, Romania and Association of the Danube River Municipalities “Danube”, Bulgaria.

DANUBE HOUSE is a concept, but it is also a concrete reality. DANUBE HOUSE is located in a very nice village, Gradistea – Rasa, Calarasi County from Romania. Why should we set up The DANUBE HOUSE’s headquarter in a village and not in a large and famous town? There are two reasons: a) everybody is eager to have an office in town; these persons do not realize the huge potential of the villages in the next 20 – 30 years; in the Romanian and Bulgarian villages we have a large number of high qualified workers, engineers, economists who lost their jobs from the traditional enterprises they use to work in; these men and women deserve a chance to be reinserted in business at their level of competence and, in the same time, our societies cannot afford to lose so much energy from the working class; it is not honest and it is not smart; b) we launched the INNOVATIVE VILLAGE concept and we are keen to make the idea to become truth both in Bulgaria and Romania. The DANUBE HOUSE NETWORK has a structure with multiple layers: business, research, education, local administration, and media. These are some of the levels of our communities. In our perception, these are very important pillars and based on them it is possible to build our future prosperity.

The Foundation for Democracy, Culture and Liberty, Romania and Association of the Danube River Municipalities “Danube”, Bulgaria have expertise in a large range of fields because we are running four projects in the Romania – Bulgaria Cross – Border Area: EVOLUTION (this is the first strategic project launched by the Program), Socio-economic condition and evaluation of the Romania-Bulgaria Cross-Border Area between 2009 – 2015, Danube Cross-border System for Earthquakes Alert – DACEA, Cooperation in R&D & Innovation for economic and social development in CBC Area Romania – Bulgaria - INNOGATE 21 and Danube House - Regional identity for economic development . We are not running to collect another membership fee. We are staying in front of you with our experience, expertise and goodwill, come out with new ideas for our development, to circulate remarkable initiatives from the local level and to support members of this innovative network to find resources for their projects.

This WHITE PAPER is a direct result of the work of the entire team for the project “Danube House regional identity for economic development”. It comes after the Danube House “Study about regional identity of the Romania-Bulgaria cross-border cooperation area” in order to make known companies from the cross-border area. Vînju Mare Grape-Wine was founded by the acquisition of 240ha of vineyards planted in vineyard Plaiurile

Drîncei center Vînju Mare wine by shareholders who have always believed that the wine is "red wine heart

Poroina and are sold through its network of stores and through major distributors specialize. In this way can

be traced throughout the chain, called generic food safety "from farm to fork" (from the farm to the fork).

In our case, from vine to glass, to the delight of consumers. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks

with temperature controlled to ensure the fermentation regimes for red wines and white wines as. Wine

maturation takes place in oak barrels of 225 liter Bordeaux type. Wine center is equipped with a automatic

bottling line in 750ml bottles, a semi-automatic bottling plant in 250ml bottles closed with metal caps type "Pilfer" and a semi-automatic line for filling in the "bag-in-box" (bag in box).The desire to preserve and carry forward the good tradition of great wines obtained from both local and international varieties Vînju Mare Grape-Wine began in 2007 a comprehensive program of conversion / restructuring aimed at replanting until 2014 200h. So far I replanted a total of 120h with royalty in Black Feteasca, Syrah, Tamaioasa Romanian, Merlot, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc Italian. Leon Popescu made the first Romanian film, "Independence of Romania". He lived in the current headquarters of the Department for Culture and Heritage, Calarasi County.

The film "Independence of Romania" was made during 1911-1912, and had the subject of the Romanian Independence War. The premiere was held at "Eforie" Cinema, Bucharest. The film director was Aristide Demetriade, who also played in the film, the writer was Peter Liciu, and Aristide Demetriade Constantin Nottara. Producers were Leon Smith, Gregory Brezeanu and Pascal Vidrascu.

The film was distributed by Film Society of Art Leon Popescu. The distribution of this film had great actors: Aristide Demetriade, the role of ruler Corol I and Lady Elizabeth was played by his wife, Constanta. Constantin Nottara got the part of Osman Pasha. Russian Tsar Alexander II was played by the very appreciated maker-up artist of the National Theatre, Pepi Machauer.

He was born on July 15, 1938 in the village Ianca (Olt county).

He graduated "Buzeşti Brothers" High school from Craiova and then the Faculty of Journalism in Bucharest.

His first radio broadcast took place in 1964, the first season in Division A of the University of Craiova, at the

football match Science Craiova- Steaua, score 0-4. By December 1989, Domozină was the first

correspondent of current affairs for the Romanian Radio-Television for the counties: Dolj, Olt and

Mehedinti. Since 1990, he was director of Radio Oltenia Craiova.

During his career he has made nearly 1,000 football matches broadcast live for University of Craiova. His

last radio transmission took place in 1995. Sebastian Domozină was famous for its speed in speech, his

comments being very fast. Sebastian Domozină passed away on October 10, 1997 in Craiova and was

buried in the Ungureni cemetery, a few meters away from the University of Craiova’s best goalgetter, Ion Oblemenco.

Elisaveta Bagryana (Bulgarian: Елисавета Багряна) (April 16, 1893 – March 23, 1991), born Elisaveta

Lyubomirova Belcheva (Bulgarian:Елисавета Любомирова Белчева), was a Bulgarian poet who wrote her

first verses while living with her family in Veliko Tarnovo in 1907–08. She, along with Dora Gabe

(1886–1983), is considered one of the Bulgarian mothers of literature.

Bagryana taught in the village of Aftane, where she experienced rural life, from 1910 to 1911, after which

she studied Slavic philology at Sofia University. Her first poems were published in 1915 – Why ("Защо") and

Night Song ("Вечерна песен") – in the magazine Contemporary Thought (Съвременна мисъл).

By 1921, she was already active in the literary life, and was collaborating on the Newspaper of the Woman

("Вестник на жената") and the magazineModernity("Съвременник"), among other publications. With the

arrival of her first book, The Eternal and the Holy ("Вечната и святата", 1927), she earned the confirmation

of her peers. She also started writing children’s stories. Her poems are straightforward, sensitive and

serious, as in The Well ("Кладенецът"), a fable-like piece relating a well she dug when a little girl to the

wellspring of poetry in her soul. They often are undeniably feminine – as in the poem The Eternal, in which the writer contemplates the body of a dead mother, or Evening Prayer – and spirited, as shown by the youthful, rebellious spirit in The Elements. Bagryana passed her life surrounded by words, editing a number of magazines and writing. Her works have been translated into over 30 languages. Her poems are most recently available in a book entitled Penelope of the 21st Century: Selected poems of Elisaveta Bagryana, translated by Brenda Walker. In 1969, she won a gold medal from the National Association of Poets in Rome. She was also the second of three Bulgarians nominated for a Nobel Prize.Bagriana was a friend of Pétar Russév, father of Brazilian politician Dilma Rousseff, who won election as Brazil's first female President on 31 October 2010.

Emanuil A. Vidinski (born June 1978 in Vidin, Bulgaria) is a Bulgarian writer, poet, and musician.

He has published his works in several Bulgarian newspapers (Culture, Literary Newspaper, Capital Light),

humanistic seminar "Angle" (2003–2004).

He won the Rashko Sugarev Award in 2004 for his short story “4th of October" and the "Balkani Award" in

During 2005–2006 he wrote a music column entitled "Musaic" for the Literary Newspaper. In 2004, he and

poets Petar Tchouhov and Ivan Hristov established the ethno-rock poetry band Gologan.

wine’s tasting area. The wine cellar has been conceived so as to be capable to process the whole quantity of

grapes, harvested from the entire vineyard, of 130 hectares width.

The wine procession technique is based on the gravity principle. The fermentation of the grape must is carefully

surveyed, being kept under low, controlled temperature. For wine ageing purposes, 1200 strong and medium

burnt barriques are available. The barriques are kept down into the cellar, thus having the temperature and the

humidity safely controlled.

Far from the city and away from the crowd, the countryside of Adamclisi managed to remain untouched by

pollution and unaffected by the destructive force of the urban civilization. Every spring, the locust forests nearby

get overgrown with snowdrops, violas, crocus, wild roses and wild peonies. Pheasants, robins, rabbits, foxes, wild

boars and roe deer: they all have found a blissful land here.

It’s a favorable region not only for vine growing, but also for bee keeping, sheep and goat breeding and, newly,

for wind farming.

The very proof of the ecological purity of the region is made by its encompassing within the protected area

called “Nature 2000”, a European ecologic network destined to preserve the natural habitats and the genuine

conditions of life. As a consequence, any harmful activity intentioned to be initiated in the region has been

prevented and, furthermore, fully discouraged. The vineyard benefits to the full from the purity of the

environment and its atmosphere.
