THE RAMBLERS - EAST BERKS GROUP WALKS PROGRAMME: January – April 2017. In this programme: the Cotswold Way; 75 walks (including 11 Leisurely), with 3 Saturday walks, a dawn walk and 2 Strollathons. If you opt for a Leisurely walk expect to walk more slowly than on a moderate walk. SU 822 794 11 January Slight hill Start from lay-by on Bath Road (A4) Knowl Hill for a walk over the RG10 9UR common to Waltham St Lawrence and back passing by Castle Royle 4.25 miles golf course. Cookham Dean and Cockmarsh & New Year Lunch. SU 885 859 15 January Small hills Park at the far end of the Winter Hill Golf Club car-park. (This is with SL6 9RP the kind permission of John Lewis, and courtesy must be given to 5.5 miles golfers). The walk will take in Cockmarsh, Winter Hill and Cookham Dean. SL6 8JN Based on RfP Along the Thames Walk 6 with a variation and c.7 miles extension of the route. Flat riverside walk including ‘missing link’ footpath, with ascent over Summerleaze Bridge to cross over River Thames. Start Point: Boulters Lock Car Park (not Riverside CP). SU 854 816 25 January Undulating Parking at Pinkneys Drive NT car park for a walk across Pinkneys No PC Green to Malders Lane returning via Hindhay Lane and Pinkneys 4 miles Farm. RG9 6RP 10 stiles The route heads east through Rotten Row to Marlow Common 6.5 miles before swinging north-west and back towards Hambleden. SU 785 855 29 January Hilly Meet at the car park at Mill End, Hambleden for a ramble through RG9 6TL Hambleden valley followed by a walk uphill before returning downhill 3.5 miles to the car park. RG9 6EY Park considerately on the grass on the right before the bend in the nearest road as you come up from Stonor. SU 927 789 1 February Park considerately at the far end of the garden centre car park at SL4 6QP Dorney Court. The walk is flat and passes Dorney Rowing Lake and 5.5 miles along the Thames Path to Boveney Lock, then through Eton Wick to reach the Jubilee Rover following its watercourse, reed beds and wetland nature reserve. Swans Way and Snowdrops at Swyncombe SU 666 914 5 February Hilly From Henley take the A4130 to Nettlebed. Turn right on the B481 RG10 6PE towards Watlington. At Cookley Green turn left to Swyncombe. Go (nearest) down the hill past the lane to the church and about 1 mile further on 5.5 miles park on the right where the road bends sharply left. A hilly walk with a stop at Swyncombe Church where the snowdrops should be in bloom. Some parts probably muddy. Leader: Phil S. 07818 443390 SU 760 825 Moderate 10.00 am.
