Graham Allison Douglas Dillon Professor of Government, Harvard Kennedy School 格雷厄姆·艾利森哈佛肯尼迪学院道格拉斯-狄龙政府学教授 Graham Allison is the Douglas Dillon Professor of Government at Harvard University where he has taught for five decades. Dr. Allison is a leading analyst of national security with special interests in nuclear weapons, Russia, China, and decision-making. He was the “Founding Dean” of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, and until 2017, served as Director of its Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs which is ranked the “#1 University Affiliated Think Tank” in the world. As Assistant Secretary of Defense under President Clinton and Special Advisor to the Secretary of Defense under President Reagan, he has been a member of the Secretary of Defense’s Advisory Board for every Secretary from Weinberger to Mattis. He has the sole distinction of having twice been awarded the Distinguished Public Service Medal, first by Secretary Cap Weinberger and second by Secretary Bill Perry. He has served on the Advisory Boards of the Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and the Director of the CIA. Allen has nearly 30 years of experience in Asia, where he served most recently as US Ambassador to Brunei. Craig Allen began his career with the Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration in 1985, part of that time as an international economist focusing on China. In 1988, Allen transferred to the American Institute in Taiwan where he served as Director of the American Trade Center in Taipei until 1992 when he re-joined the Department of Commerce for a three-year posting in Beijing. In this role, Allen served as Commercial Attaché responsible for the chemical sector, consumer goods and medical equipment. During his posting to Beijing from 2002 – 2006, Allen served as the Senior Commercial Officer at the U.S. Mission to China. In 2010, Allen became Deputy Assistant Secretary for Asia at the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration, and was later promoted to Deputy Assistant Secretary for China. Allen received a B.A. from the University of Michigan in Political Science and Asian Studies in 1979. He is currently a visiting Professor at colleges in the People’s Republic of China, as well as being a Consultant specialising in the governance of not-for-profits. Prior to his role in WSI Simon was Chief Executive of UK Skills and of WorldSkills London 2011, as well as being the UK’s Official Delegate to both WSI and WorldSkills Europe (on both of which he was also a Board Member). Before UK Skills Simon was Chairman and Managing Director of his family business in the Building Services Sector. During this time, he also Chaired a number of National Committees in the Construction and Educational Sectors including SummitSkills – the Sector Skills Council for the Building Services Industry - and the Diploma Development Partnership for Construction and the Built Environment. Simon was educated at Durham University, from where he graduated with a BSc in Engineering Science & Management and an MSc in Management Science. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers and a Fellow of City and Guilds. He is a previous Chairman of the Durham University Business School Alumni Association. He is a Member of the UK Government’s Skills Commission and is also on the Council of City & Guilds.
