ISLE OF WEDMORE NEWS July 2015 No. 427 Editorial Well Wedmore is certainly the place to be this July with firmly established events taking place. We start with the Street Fair, a real community event, which raises money for local charities and organisations. We are also privileged to be hosting Wedmore Arts Festival which culminates with the opera. The opera is another well established and keenly awaited event, but this year we also have a week of culture with jazz, comedy, literature and recitals to look forward to. Who knows how this event will put Wedmore on the national and even international map in years to come – watch this space! Now what I know about cricket you could write on the back of a postage stamp. However, it has been brought to my attention that Wedmore has home grown talent in England and Lancashire with cricketer Jos Buttler, who has I understand performed extremely well recently in the Test match against New Zealand. Congratulations to Jos, Wedmore salutes you. Sue James Front Cover Thanks go to Ian Bateman for this lovely picture.
