Posted: Mon., Dec. 28, 2009, 8:00pm PT Adler, McCarthy engulfed in WWII 'Fog' Producers option sci-fi horror comicbook 'Night and Fog' By TATIANA SIEGEL Producers Gil Adler and Shane McCarthy have optioned the sci-fi horror comicbook "Night and Fog" from publisher Studio 407. No stranger to comicbook-based material, Adler has produced such graphic-based fare as "Constantine," "Superman Returns" and the upcoming Brandon Routh starrer "Dead of Night," which is based on the popular Italian title "Dylan Dog." This material is definitely in my strike zone in more ways than one," Adler said, noting his prior role as a producer of such horror projects as the "Tales From the Crypt" series. "But what really appealed to me wasn't so much the genre trappings but rather the characters that really drive this story." Set during WWII, story revolves around an infectious mist unleashed on a military base that transforms its victims into preternatural creatures of the night. But when the survivors try to kill them, they adapt and change into something even more horrific and unstoppable. Studio 407's Alex Leung will also serve as a producer on "Night and Fog." Adler and McCarthy are also teaming to produce an adaptation of "Havana Nocturne" along with Eric Eisner. They also recently optioned Ken Bruen's crime thriller "Tower." "Night and Fog" is available in comic shops in the single-issue format and digitally on iPhone through Comixology.

(/) GOSFORD PARK R By Erica Abeel (Http://Www.Filmjournal.Com/Taxonomy/Term/93) Nov 1, 2004 Like Share Tweet Reviews (//www.pinterest.com/pin/create/button What could be more intriguing than a whodunit by Robert Altman with an all-star cast set on an English estate? The opening moments of Gosford Park augur well: black screen and the rustle of steady rain. Then the Countess of Trentham (the incomparable Maggie Smith) and her awkward new maid (Kelly Macdonald) leave in a vintage buggy through a twilight mist, promising mystery and mannered mayhem. But that's as atmospheric as it gets. This latest by the Big Daddy of American Cinema soon veers off into a showcase for the Altman stock-in-trade of episodic stories, ensemble acting and overlapping dialogue (liberally laced with free-floating misogyny)--all of it oddly out of place in this Agatha Christie territory. It's 1932 and a covey of upper-class Brits converge on Gosford Park, the digs of Sir William McCordle (Michael Gambon) and his wife, Lady Sylvia (Kristin Scott Thomas), for a shooting party. Also on hand are Ivor Novello (Jeremy Northam), the '30s matinee idol and singer, along with Morris Weissman (Bob Balaban), a Hollywood vulgarian and producer of Charlie Chan movies, who's planning a new whodunit that mirrors the one we're watching. Recycling the upstairs/downstairs format, Altman cuts back and forth between the mostly despicable aristos at play in drawing room and field, and the subterranean crew of servants beavering away in the shadowy warrens below. Before the actual murder occurs, there's funny business galore, especially below stairs.

FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM COGS108 Final Project Group Members: Yanyi Wang Ziwen Zeng Lingfei Lu Yuhan Wang Yuqing Deng Introduction and Background Movie revenue is one of the most important measure of good and bad movies. Revenue is also the most important and intuitionistic feedback to producers, directors and actors. Therefore it is worth for us to put effort on analyzing what factors correlate to revenue, so that producers, directors and actors know how to get higher revenue on next movie by focusing on most correlated factors. Our project focuses on anaylzing all kinds of factors that correlated to revenue, for example, genres, elements in the movie, popularity, release month, runtime, vote average, vote count on website and cast etc. After analysis, we can clearly know what are the crucial factors to a movie's revenue and our analysis can be used as a guide for people shooting movies who want to earn higher renveue for their next movie. They can focus on those most correlated factors, for example, shooting specific genre and hire some actors who have higher average revenue. Reasrch Question: Various factors blend together to create a high revenue for movie, but what are the most important aspect contribute to higher revenue? What aspects should people put more effort on and what factors should people focus on when they try to higher the revenue of a movie? http://localhost:8888/nbconvert/html/Desktop/MyProjects/Pr_085/FinalProject.ipynb?download=false Page 1 of 62 FinalProject 25/08/2018, 930 PM Hypothesis: We predict that the following factors contribute the most to movie revenue.

Different Trajectories: Europe and Scotland in Recent Scottish Cinema Ian Goode, University of Glasgow Since approval was given via a referendum in 1997 for the advent of the Scottish Parliament, the benefits and constraints of Scotland’s devolved role within and against the UK has, understandably, formed the primary axis of political debate, despite increasing evidence that Scotland, like other nations, is part of a globalised world. It has long been argued that nationalist Scotland exercises a preference for closer ties with a less imperialist Europe rather than with the colonially tainted state of the United Kingdom (Hechter 1975, 310). However, the precise meaning of Scotland’s role within a changing Europe receives little attention in mainstream debate (Imrie 2006). Meanwhile, the European Union (EU) is engaged in the ongoing process of enlarging and renegotiating its boundaries. Despite the paucity of cinematic texts that address ostensibly Scottish-European concerns, I want to consider the meaning of Europe through a focus on how a number of films have been written into critical accounts of Scottish, British and European cinema while also examining how this relationship is given meaning in recent films produced in Scotland, in order to map the different manifestations of the relationship between Europe and Scotland. The Idea of Europe Europe initially referred to a terrain that stretched westwards from the Aegean and was associated with Christendom, civilisation and the values of human rights and freedom (Ichijo 2004, 71-72). The political institutionalisation of Europe as the formation called the European Economic Community (EEC) in 1957 meant that Europe increasingly became identified with Western Europe, as did an adherence to democracy and human PORTAL Journal of Multidisciplinary International Studies, vol.
