GIVES NOTICE to the Company under regulation 28(4) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016 (as amended) that it must satisfy the following requirements: For risks associated with: - Manganese, iron and aluminium (related to mains sediment) - Discolouration Page 3 of 6 Requirements Date until/by which requirements must be maintained/ satisfied (as appropriate) (a) to maintain the following measures for the period specified: i. Optimisation of treatment for manganese, iron, Ongoing for the aluminium and organics removal at the water duration of the Notice treatment works. (all measures) ii. Optimisation of pH to manage the corrosive nature of the treated water. iii. Ongoing pipeline management of mains with flow and control operability. iv. Ongoing uni-directional flushing of DMAs, prioritised based on customer contacts. v. Appropriate risk based inspection and cleaning of the Company’s service reservoirs as set out in the Company’s discolouration strategy. vi. Adequate risk assessment planning, with appropriate sign-off, before completion of any planned work in order to consider and reduce the risk of customer impact. vii. Training of field operatives to facilitate more effective network operation and management and minimise disruption to customer supplies through the Company’s activities. (b) to review, revise and/or make operational the following measures, by the date specified below: i. Review the potential options to effectively mitigate 30 April 2021 the risk of discolouration with the zones referenced. ii. Implement the Company’s chosen solution, to TBC (dependent on effectively mitigate the risk of discolouration with the outcome of the zones referenced, as identified under measure measure (b)i.) (b)i. (c) to audit whether the measures have been effective by the following means: i. Define a strategy for auditing the effectiveness of 31 May 2021 the measures being delivered in section (b). This must include: ‐ The appropriate operation of water treatment works at all times; ‐ Ongoing monitoring of customer contacts for discolouration (brown, orange or black); Page 4 of 6 ‐ Monitoring of regulatory sample results for the zones supplied; and ‐ Monitoring of the number of DWI event based contacts. ii. Implement the audit strategy outlined in (c)i. above. Until revocation of this Notice (following the completion of (c)i above) (d) not to supply water for regulation 4(1) purposes from water treatment works or zones referenced: N/A (e) to provide the following information in the time and manner specified below to enable monitoring of progress towards the mitigation of the risk of supplying water that would constitute a potential danger to human health: i. Provide a progress report annually by 31 January and against the following milestones: a) Report to confirm details of the strategy for 30 June 2021 auditing the effectiveness of the measures being delivered in section (b) as specified in section (c). b) Outline of the review completed under 31 May 2021 measure (b)i., indicating the Company’s chosen solution and the timescale for completion of said solution. c) Interim progress reports on covering optimisation in a) and zonal work under b)i TBC at a frequency to be agreed. d) Confirmation of the completion of measure TBC (b)ii. ii. Review the risk assessment for the zones From time to time and referenced as required by regulation 27(4) and by two months after subsequently submit a revised regulation 28(1) the completion of all report accompanied by a signed board level measures in section declaration. (b) iii. Submit a satisfactory completion report TBC Page 5 of 6 Failure by the Company to comply with this Notice may result in enforcement proceedings under section 18 of the Act.
