Transformation of the Environmental Infrastructure is one of the key to drivers identified in the Black Country Strategy for Growth and Competitiveness. The full report looks at the six themes created under the ‘Urban Park’ theme and provides a spatial picture of that theme accompanied with the key assets and opportunities for that theme. Foreword to be provided by Roger Lawrence The Strategic Context Quality of the Black Country environment is one of the four primary objectives of the Black Country Vision that has driven the preparation of the Black Country Strategy for Growth and Competitiveness through the Black Country Study process. The environment is critical to the health and well-being of future residents, workers and visitors to the Black Country. It is also both a major contributor to, and measure of, wider goals for sustainable development and living as well as being significantly important to the economy of the region. The importance and the desire for transforming the Black Country environment has been reinforced through the evidence gathering and analysis of the Black Country Study process as both an aspiration in its own right and as a necessity to achieve economic prosperity. Evidence from the Economic and Housing Studies concluded that ‘the creation of new environments will be crucial for attracting investment from high value-added firms’ and similarly that ‘a high quality healthy environment is a priority for ‘knowledge workers’. The Economic Strategy puts ‘Environmental Transformation’ alongside Education & Skills as the fundamental driver to achieve Black Country economic renaissance and prosperity for its people.

Parents who use or intend to use school transport should take the time to read this document thoroughly paying particular attention to the information on bus passes. More than 900 of our students travel to school by either school or public transport each day. Every morning before 9 a.m. and every afternoon at 3.15 p.m, 12 buses, double- deckers and coaches and 3 taxis solely devoted to school transport arrive on the school drive. In addition a number of students use regular service buses outside the school on the Erdington Road and in Aldridge. The school experiences relatively few problems with transport. Students should aim to arrive in the morning at their designated stop at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled arrival of the bus. If a school coach or bus does not turn up on time in the morning students should wait for at least 30 minutes. Sometimes delays occur due to traffic or weather, but the coach / bus will almost always turn up eventually. If a student misses the bus it is the parents' responsibility to make alternative ar- rangements. All services will pick up and set down at any recognised bus stop on the route. Stu- dents should put their hands out to signal the bus to stop.

Both meet quarterly. B’ham North attendees is 35 in 2019 and 36 in 2020. B’ham East 37 and 33 BHAM WEST – B’ham South Have 11 IAG members although not all have attended the IAGs and generally around 5 will attend the meetings.     Walsall Tour Notes 1993 The West Midlands Group organised a walk that followed the Wyrley & Essington Canal from Walsall to Sneyd and used the newly re-opened passenger route from Bloxwich North to visit Churchbridge Railway interchange basin and the now demolished South Staffordshire Railway House near there, These notes reflect a time prior to the railway privatisation, when Regional Railways had charge of local services and Intercity operated the express trains in this region. Members from the East Midlands, West Midlands and North West groups attended. Lunch was arranged at the public house built beside the infilled locks at Sneyd. Tour leader ; Ray Shill. Index 2 – 18 Morning Walk 19 – 30 Afternoon Walk 31 – 34 Images of Walk Area 1 2 3 The walk begins at Walsall Station and the group assembles in the Saddler Centre. It is a modern brick and concrete structure, a product of 1970's architecture. Many will probably remember the old station, its wooden circular booking hall and frontage to Park Street. Some may even recall the transition, in 1978, when the old booking office was demolished to leave a gaping hole above the tracks below. In this period the station entrance was effected from Station Street across a temporary footbridge to an equally temporary booking office on the island platform. Then there was only one passenger service. Electric units, usually 304s, trundled from New Street to Walsall and back. Their diagram's might have involved exotic places such as Bletchley or Manchester, but for Walsall folk the train only went to Birmingham. If they wanted anywhere else it was simply change at Brummagen.
