NOTICE OF RACE NB: The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule in the Notice of Race means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.

1 RULES 1.1 The event will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. 1.2 The New Zealand Safety Regulations Part 1 shall apply. 1.3 The rules of the 49er and 49Fx class rules will apply. 1.4 Appendix T, Arbitration, will apply.

2 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will be available at registration.

3 RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. [DP]

4 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 4.1 The event is open to all boats of the 49er and 49Fx classes. 4.2 The 49Fx class may be sailed as a mixed crew. 4.3 Eligible boats may enter by presenting the entry form at registration on Wednesday 10th February 2021, at the Torbay Sailing Club. 4.4 To be eligible to compete in this event each entrant and crew member shall be a financial member of a club recognised by the entrant and crew member’s national authority. 5.5 Proof of affiliated club membership to be presented at registration. 5.6 Each entrant and crew member shall be members of the 49er Class Association.

5 ADVERTISING 5.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organising authority. If this rule is broken, Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP] 5.2 When provided by the organising authority, boats or competitors shall carry or wear the following: Cameras, sound equipment, tracking and timing system equipment.

[DP] 8.2 When provided by the organising authority, boats or competitors shall carry or wear the following: Cameras, sound equipment, tracking and timing system equipment. 9 SCHEDULE 9.1 Registration: 1000hrs to 1100hrs on Wednesday 10th February 2021 in the Torbay Sailing Club. 9.2 Briefing: A competitors briefing will be held in the Torbay Sailing Club at 1100hrs on Wednesday 10th February 2021 9.3 Dates of racing: Date 49er 49Fx Wednesday 10th racing racing Thursday 11th racing racing Friday 12th racing racing

9.4 Number of races: Class Number Races per Target time for each day race 49er Four(4) 30mins 49Fx Four(4) 30mins

9.5 The scheduled time of the warning signal for each day is 1300hrs. 9.6 On the last scheduled day of racing no warning signal will be made after 1600hrs. 9.7 A BBQ will be provided at the end of sailing on Thursday 11th February in the Torbay Sailing Club. 9.8 After Racing on Thursday 11th February, the 49er Class Association will hold it AGM in the Torbay Sailing Club.

10 EQUIPMENT INSPECTION 10.1 Each boat shall produce a valid measurement certificate. 10.2 Each competitor shall only use one(1) set of equipment.

11 VENUE The venue will be the Torbay Sailing Club, 948 Beach Rd, Waiake, Auckland.

12 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be as follows: Windward/Leeward.

13 PENALTY SYSTEM RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Penalty.

14 SCORING 14.1 Five(5) races are required to be completed to constitute a series.

a) When fewer than five(5) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

b) When five(5) to eight(8) races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

15 SUPPORT BOATS Support boats will be allowed

16 PRIZES A prizegiving ceremony will be held after racing on the last day.

17 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid marine third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per incident or the equivalent. Certificate of insurance is to be presented at registration.

18 RISK STATEMENT RRS 3 states: ‘The responsibility for a boat’s decision to participate in a race or to continue to race is hers alone.’ By participating in this event each competitor agrees and acknowledges that sailing is a potentially dangerous activity with inherent risks. These risks include strong winds and rough seas, sudden changes in weather, failure of equipment, boat handling errors, poor seamanship by other boats, loss of balance on an unstable platform and fatigue resulting in increased risk of injury. Inherent in the sport of sailing is the risk of permanent, catastrophic injury or death by drowning, trauma, hypothermia or other causes..
