APPLETON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT'S PASSENGER TRAFFIC INCREASES 12 PERCENT IN SEPTEMBER

GREENVILLE, Wis., Nov. 3, 2016 - More passengers used Appleton International Airport in September 2016 compared to the same time last year. September passengers totaled 43,254, an increase of 12 percent over the 38,583 total recorded in September 2015.

The increase was partly due to Allegiant Air's Orlando/Sanford route continuing operations through September.

"This is the best September we've seen since 2010," said Abe Weber, airport director. "In past years, Allegiant didn't offer service to Orlando in September; typically it's a quiet month for the Florida theme parks. However, our vacation business has been so strong that Allegiant continued our twice-weekly flights to Orlando, and Northeast Wisconsin customers took advantage of this expanded service."

Allegiant finished September with 70 percent more passenger traffic compared to the same time last year.

Year-to-date, flight numbers for Appleton International Airport are up 5.58 percent compared to the same period in 2015. More flights out of Appleton International Airport are helping increase passenger counts in 2016.
