Nel 1973 si diploma al 5º Corso dei Maestri dello Sport ed inizia a lavorare al CONI. Nel 1974 entra nei Carabinieri.[1] Come dirigente del CONI ha ricoperto diversi incarichi. È stato Segretario Generale della Federazione Italiana Scherma dal 1999 al 2003.[2] È stato sino al 2011 Segretario Generale della Federazione Ginnastica d'Italia[3].     IL RACCONTO DELLE CENTO MEDAGLIE OLIMPICHE dal 1900 al 2000 IL RACCONTO DELLE CENTO MEDAGLIE Una storia che sembra più una favola: il racconto, Olimpiade dopo Olimpiade, delle Cento Medaglie (d'oro, d'argento e di bronzo) conquistate dalla scherma italiana, dall'edizione di Parigi del 1900 fino a Sydney 2000. Una storia illustrata da una serie di immagini, da quelle antiche e un po' sbiadite fino a quelle piene di colori dei giorni nostri, che ribadiscono nella loro bellezza quanto possa essere ingiusto mortificare la dignità di questo sport, nel quale non girano miliardi, ma nel quale gli atleti si sottopongono a costanti sacrifici, sostenuti solo da una grandissima passione. Una passione che chiede rispetto a chi sta tentando con ogni mezzo di umiliarne le grandi tradizioni, con l'intenzione di ridurre la presenza di questo sport nello scenario sportivo. In cento anni di Olimpiadi, da Parigi 1900 a Sydney 2000, la scherma italiana è salita sul podio ben 100 volte. Nessuna disciplina azzurra ha fatto tanto. La medaglia numero uno fu quella di Antonio Conte, oro nella sciabola maestri a Parigi, agli inizi del ventesimo secolo; l'ultima, ma solo in ordine di tempo, quella del "Dream Team" del fioretto italiano, squadra composta da Valentina Vezzali, Giovanna Trillini e Diana Bianchedi. Cento medaglie accomunate tutte da identica passione, sacrifici, determinazione e classe vera.     DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF CLASSICAL FENCING WHEN COMPARED TO MODERN FENCING by Walter Guerry Green III, Ph.D. A Thesis Submitted in Partial Fulfillment Of the Requirements for the Diploma Classical Fencing Master Classical Academy of Arms January 2006 Updated and expanded at the request of the Academy December 2016 ABSTRACT This study examines the characteristics of classical and modern fencing to better understand the differences between fencing in the two periods in order to better ground the teaching of classical fencing. It identifies 7 distinguishing differences between classical fencing, as stated by modern classical fencers, and modern fencing, and 4 broad categories of differences not identified by modern classical fencers that should be considered. A qualitative content analysis was used as the basis to compare and contrast the classical perspective with the categories identified as meriting further consideration. Although classical fencing and modern fencing clearly differ in technique, it is reasonable to suggest that a wide variety of factors in the environment surrounding fencing, as well as in the mechanics of fencing are the actual differences between classical and modern fencing.
