Steve almost "naturally" began an acting career in the 50s, starring in over 35 TV shows like “Bonanza”, “Wanted Dead Or Alive” and a two year role in “The Legend of Wyatt Earp”. His first film appearance was at 11 year's old in MGM's "Boy's Ranch", singing Darling Clementine in the campfire scene. These were also the years when as a member of "Hollywood royalty" Steve was inspired to write monthly columns for the popular fan magazines, The View From Rowland’s Head being the most famous, as he mingled with the stars and starlets of the time : Elvis Presley, Steve McQueen, Marlon Brando, James Dean, Natalie Wood, Tuesday Weld, Kathy Case, Carmen Phillips to name a few. Steve Burke Chief Executive Officer NBCUniversal 30 Rockefeller Plaza New York, NY 10112 Jeff Shell Incoming Chief Executive Officer NBC Universal 30 Rockefeller Plaza New York, NY 10112 December 17th, 2019 Dear Mr. Burke and Mr. Shell, We write as members of the New York State Legislature to express our concern about allegations of a toxic workplace environment at NBCUniversal. There is growing evidence of a culture that silences victims of harassment and those who report inappropriate workplace behavior at NBC. NBCUniversal’s recent decision not to renew Gabrielle Union’s contract on America’s Got Talent is just the latest example of a concerning pattern of behavior on the part of NBC. Union was allegedly let go after raising concerns about racist jokes made on set and having been told repeatedly that her hairstyles were “too black.” These allegations represent unacceptable workplace behavior that no one should be subject to, let alone terminated for reporting. We are grateful that NBC has committed to Union that they will investigate her allegations and termination. However, NBC must be transparent about the findings of their investigation and take concrete steps to reform the toxic culture throughout the company. Union’s experience is only one example of the systemic silencing of victims of harassment and those who have spoken up at NBC. As reported extensively by Ronan Farrow and others, NBC ignored complaints of sexual misconduct against Matt Lauer and stymied Farrow’s reporting on Harvey Weinstein while at NBC. Farrow has also reported that at least seven women have signed non-disclosure agreements with the company after alleging sexual harassment, including individuals who made complaints about Lauer before November 2017.

  • 2014 Annual Report
Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art Annual Report 2014 REPOR T from the President and Director & CEO Renewing the Wadsworth Atheneum The past twelve months have been one of the most transformative chapters in the long and illustrious history of the Wadsworth Atheneum. From completing the second phase of our $33 million roof-to-basement renovation, bringing our campus of five historic buildings into the 21st century, to maintaining the museum’s standards for excellence in scholarship, acquisitions, and groundbreaking exhibitions, Daniel Wadsworth’s “spirit of genius” has continued to inspire creative collaboration and forward momentum since the museum first opened to the public 170 years ago on July 31, 1844. Increased commitments from generous funders energized the massive renewal project. The year began on a high note with the thrilling news of a $5 million award from the State of Connecticut, bringing the State’s total investment in our building renovation to $25 million and ensuring that we could confidently enter the final phase of work on the Wadsworth and Morgan Memorial Buildings. We extend our utmost gratitude to Governor Malloy and his administration for their trust in our mission, and we are fully committed to our crucial role as a thriving cultural destination with a measurable economic impact for the State of Connecticut. Another transformative moment came with the unexpected announcement of the largest single bequest in the museum’s history — $9.6 million from the estate of former museum member Charles H. Schwartz. This significant gift, designated for the acquisition of European artworks from the 18th century or earlier, was immediately put to good use by our curatorial team’s newest member, Susan Morse Hilles Curator of European Art Oliver Tostmann.
