Nursery I

This week the children learned about Tu B’Shevat – the birthday of the trees. The children learned about the importance of trees and all the wonderful fruits that come from trees. Our class created our own big tree by tracing our hands as leaves and gluing brown paper for the truck of the tree. Each week we work on “academic sheets”, review the letters in our names and practice cutting with scissors. Some of our books of the week were “A Tree Full of Mitzvos”, “A Snowy Day”, “Goldilocks and The Three Bears”. Our Shabbat Ima & Abba were Sara & Ayden

Nursery II Boy was it COLD this week!! Even though we had a snow day we still did a lot in class. We finished our Shabbat unit. We will be bringing home our Shabbat Boxes that include candle sticks, a challah cover, kiddush cup as well as a challah roll. The children loved the book “The Shabbat Box” by Lesley Simpson that inspired our project. We also started learning about trees and all they give us (in preparation for Tu B’Shevat). We read “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein and “Caps For Sale”. Shabbat Ima and Abba were Brielle and Daniel. Shabbat Shalom

Pre K

This week was a short week due to the snow storm. We learned the letter M for mail, mitten, mouse and muffin. We continued the story of the Exodus of the Jewish People from Egypt (mitzrayim).

Our Shabbat Abba was Moshe A and our Ima was Rina.

Kindergarten English

The "K" class is discussing things "then" (in the past) and "now" (the present). Webcam, newspapers, gears, phonograph, and headphones are examples of our amazing words this week. We are working on addition in math, preparing for Groundhog Day and studying the trees for Tu B'She vat. That's a lot in what became a short week! Looking forward to seeing you all next Wed. @ 9:30. Don't forget to bring/send in your family pictures. Bring in individual pictures of your family members too. Also, if you haven't done so already, after eating grapefruits, oranges or lemons, put the seeds in a ziploc filled with a little water ( so the seeds germinate). In short this week, we have been revising the “Alef-bet” up to letter “yood ”, and the vowels that we have learned so far. In addition we have learned some new words relating to cold weather and we have played a memory game with some items.

1st Grade English

The first grade has been preparing all week for the

chapter 5 math test, that they will take next week.

I think the kids will do a great job!

2nd Grade English

The snow this week didn't stop the 2nd graders from learning. We will now have our math test on Monday. Students continue to work on becoming better readers and writers. Shabbat Shalom!

2nd Grade Hebrew We continued to learn how to build Hebrew sentences. We talked about Tu B’Shevat. We finished with the study of Parashat Beshalach and the yeladim are expecting to see you on the big day Tuesday, February 3rd at Ahavat Shalom

3rd Grade English This week the third grade is preparing for next weeks math test. We had a great week!

3rd Grade Hebrew

We finished the study of Perek Tet Vav of Parashat Lech Lecha . We talked about the upcoming holiday of Tu B’Shevat. We finished as usual with the Parashat of the week. Parashat Beshalach

4th Grade English The fourth read a story called “What Jo Did?” It was about a girl pretending to be a boy so she could play basketball with the boys. She was afraid that if they knew she was a girl they wouldn’t let her play.

4th Grade Hebrew The class is enjoying the Navi subject in a middle of sefer “yehosua”. This week the class learned a lot of Hebrew new words and used them in sentences and conversation. We are also learning about Tu B’Shevat. 5th Grade English This week 5th graders started multiplying decimals. We are working on strategies to help answer questions about reading passages. Shabbat Shalom!

5th Grade Hebrew This week we review about the brachot Rishonot and brachot achronot. We also learned a lot about Tu B’Shevat. The class is working very hard on reading comprehension.
