SAZERAC HOUSE 101 Magazine Street, New Orleans SAZERAC HOUSE 101 Magazine Street, New Orleans, Louisiana Architect of Record: Trapolin Peer Architects cost: $50 million size: 52,000 sf completion: estimated early 2019 Project Manager: Cynthia Dubberley The project is a historic renovation with penthouse addition in downtown New Orleans for the Sazerac Company. The program includes retail space, exhibit gallery, micro-distillery, laboratories, private tasting rooms, event space, and two floors of offices. The project required numerous regulatory approvals, including historic tax credits, Historic District Landmark Commission approval, and building variances and appeals. The design reflects the clients’ vision for taking inspiration from the venerable character of the existing building while highlighting the unique history of the company. A few of the design features include a three-story tall back-lit bottle display wall and monumental stair with custom filigreed guardrail. NEW ORLEANS CONVENTION CENTER LINEAR PARK New Orleans, Louisiana architect of record: MA|EDR cost: $65 million completion: 2011-ongoing MA Principal in Charge: Miwako Hattori The new park space will repurpose 7.5 acres of roadway into a continuous pedestrian promenade along the front of the Convention Center. Visitors moving from one end of the facility to the other will have opportunities to stop for food, view public art, or just sit and enjoy the scenery. The park space provides a variation of communal and green spaces including lawns to relax on, benches and an in-ground interactive fountain. New porches that extend the Convention Center’s concourse out to the park will allow visitors to experience first-hand the City’s vibrant street culture. For those seeking to explore the City, the new park will offer connections to several civic and cultural districts. FOUR SEASONS HOTEL AND RESIDENCES 2 Canal Place, New Orleans, Louisiana Architect: Trapolin Peer Architects, in association with Cambridge Seven Associates and Woodward Design Build cost: $364 million size: 670,000 square feet completion: under construction TPA Project Manager: Cynthia Dubberley Adaptive reuse of the historic World Trade Center into 395-key luxury hotel and 88 condominiums with amenities. TPA facilitated the historic tax credit review process as well as the restoration of the existing tower envelope, which included replacing the curtainwall, repairing the concrete panels, designing a new hotel entry and a 34th level observation deck addition. The historic mid-century modern interior elements, such as the marble-clad lobby, will also be retained and restored. The project is planned to receive LEED certification. The design has a contemporary aesthetic while still being respectful of the historical context. Also included are retail spaces and a parking garage. Amenities include a third floor rooftop pool deck and private terraces for condominium units. Floating vanities, marble waterfall edge islands, and marble and glass tile finishes are paired with salvaged wood flooring and restored brick walls from the existing warehouse building, blending historic character with a spacious, bright, and modern interior atmosphere. NEW ORLEANS LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Kenner, Louisiana cost: $650 million completion: 2019 MA project manager: Miwako Hattori Manning Architects, in collaboration with Pelli Clarke Pelli Architects, worked on the conceptual and schematic design of a new world-class international airport terminal for the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. Manning was tasked with incorporating an authentic New Orleans experience into the design of the new terminal. Manning’s primary focus was on providing a continuous link between the traveler and the exterior environment. By allowing the abundance of natural light to permeate the interior, travelers would be exposed to its variation throughout the day and year. NEW ORLEANS PUBLIC LIBRARY NORA NAVRA BRANCH LIBRARY New Orleans, Louisiana architect of record: Manning Architects cost: $5 million size: 8,000sf completion: 2018 principal in charge: Miwako Hattori New Orleans Public Library envisioned to build a new library as the last rebuilding effort after Hurricane Katrina. The library is designed to be flexible to accommodate a traditional function of library and a community space with technology. The Nora Navra library will provide a sense of community to the neighborhood. Manning Architects provided Master Plan, project management, architectural design and assisted the client to host community meetings. GOOD COUNSEL APARTMENTS 1215 Louisiana, New Orleans, Louisiana Architect of Record: Trapolin Peer Architects cost: $6 million size: 30,000 sf completion: 2017 Project Manager: Cynthia Dubberley Built in 1924, this former school, left vacant for thirty years and gutted, was converted into twenty-two apartment units. Because the development received historic tax credits, it posed the challenge of maximizing the number of units while creating livable spaces and maintaining original partition locations. The design drew from the historic context and thoughtfully reused existing elements, such as salvaged wood screens, chalkboard paint accent walls, and tile that mimics the exterior brick pattern. The site features permeable paving, rain gardens, and a pool deck. In the school’s former auditorium, a mezzanine was added to provide parking at the ground level with units above, and the raked seating was encapsulated to create loft spaces. ACE HOTEL 600 Carondelet, New Orleans, Louisiana Architect of Record: Eskew Dumez Ripple cost: $35 million size: 184,000 sf completion: 2015 Project Manager: Cynthia Dubberley Adaptive reuse of an existing nine-story circa 1928 building with a contemporary four-story addition. Program components include a 234-room boutique hotel, bar, restaurant, meeting spaces, and retail. The exterior design draws inspiration from New Orleans, with hand-made brick cladding, a carriageway and courtyard, and a lushly landscaped rooftop pool deck with bar. The interior is a mix of historic elements and eclectic furnishings. The project has garnered numerous awards, including an AIA Gulf States Merit Award, AIA Louisiana Honor Award, and AIA New Orleans Merit Award. VETERANS AFFAIRS REPLACEMENT MEDICAL CENTER New Orleans, Louisiana Architect of Record: Studio NOVA (A joint venture of Eskew Dumez Ripple Architects, NBBJ, Rozas Ward) cost: $825 million completion: 2015 EDR Project Manager: Cynthia Dubberley The facility is a 2.4 million square foot medical center built after Hurricane Katrina. EDR was the lead designer on the renovation of a historic mid-century modern office building into administrative headquarters, the adaptive re-use of the former Dixie Brewery into a research facility, and design of a new central energy plant. The campus was planned to meet strict federal security guidelines while still creating an environment promoting wellness, with numerous light-filled courtyards and a LEED Silver equivalent design. NEW ORLEANS EAST HOSPITAL New Orleans, Louisiana architect of record: MA|EDR cost: $100 million size: 205,380 sf completion: 2014 MA project manager: Miwako Hattori The $100 million New Orleans East Hospital demonstrates a high degree of resilient planning and design, and provides comprehensive medical care and new economic opportunity in an under-served area of the city. Manning Architects/Eskew Dumez Ripple, Joint Venture (MA EDR) provided master planning and architectural services, which included value-added enhancements allowing for maximized efficiency in the hospital’s performance. MA EDR achieved two levels of recogni- tion for the revitalization and construc- tion of the New Orleans East Hospital. The reception of the 2015 American In- stitute of Architects New Orleans Mer- it Award along with the 2015 United States Green Building Council (USGBC). NEW ORLEANS CONVENTION CENTER NEW BALLROOM New Orleans, Louisiana architect of record: MA|EDR cost: $40 million size: 100,000 sf completion: 2013 MA project manager: Miwako Hattori The renovation of the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center created a new 60,000-square foot column-free ballroom, the largest in the New Orleans area. The Julia Street entrance was enhanced to provide visitors with a grand “sense of arrival” as they approach the mile-long facility from its downtown face. The entrance was also renovated to create a new 4,600-square foot executive conference center with an outdoor rooftop terrace and 4,700-square foot lounge. This north-facing façade features extensive amounts of glass as well as digital signage to better convey the major events taking place in- side. Manning Architects/Eskew+Dumez+Ripple (MA|EDR), A Joint Venture and LMN ArchitectsGround provided Master Floor Plan Plan and Architectural Design. Current LANDRY-WALKER HIGH SCHOOL New Orleans, Louisiana Architect of Record: Eskew Dumez Ripple size: 214,000 sf completion: 2010 Project Architect: Cynthia Dubberley This FEMA-funded, post-Katrina replacement high school contains two gymnasiums, an auditorium, arts education spaces, a library, black box theatre, cafeteria, and classrooms. The design is centered around a courtyard with an existing mature tree and views towards downtown. The project achieved LEED for Schools Silver certification and won numerous awards, including Architect Magazine Annual Design Review, Honorable Mention, AIA Louisiana Honor Award, AIA Gulf States Merit Award, and an AIA New Orleans Honor Award. .

Where The Locals Go Stone Pigman's Top New Orleans Picks Where The Locals Go 1 The lawyers of Stone Pigman Walther Wittmann L.L.C. welcome you to the great city of New Orleans. Known around the world for its food, nightlife, architecture and history, it can be difficult for visitors to decide where to go and what to do. This guide provides recommendations from seasoned locals who know the ins-and-outs of the finest things the city has to offer. "Antoine’s Restaurant is the quintessential classic New Orleans restaurant. The oldest continuously operated family owned restaurant in the country. From the potatoes soufflé to the Baked Alaska with café Diablo for dessert, you are assured a memorable meal." (713 St. Louis Street, New Orleans, LA 70130 (504) 581-4422) Carmelite Bertaut "My favorite 100+ year old, traditional French Creole New Orleans restaurant is Arnaud’s. It's a jacket required restaurant, but has a causal room called the Jazz Bistro, which has the same menu, is right on Bourbon Street, and has a jazz trio playing in the corner of the room." (813 Bienville Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70112 (504) 523-5433) Scott Whittaker "The food at Atchafalaya is delicious and the brunch is my favorite in the city. The true standout of the brunch is their build-your-own bloody mary bar. It has everything you could want, but you must try the bacon." (901 Louisiana Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70115 (504) 891-9626) Maurine Wall "Chef John Besh’s restaurant August never fails to deliver a memorable fine dining experience.
