Ward joined the Flames in 2018 as an associate coach after spending three seasons with New Jersey as their assistant coach. He started his NHL career with Boston as an assistant coach in 2007 where he spent seven seasons including winning the Stanley Cup in 2011 and another finals appearance in 2013.
