These are the projects that capture the most at- tention, which is why I use them to promote ad- ditional business. They’re also the ones that en- able us to stretch the artistic envelope and often involve us in team efforts directed at achieving the ultimate in watershape and exterior design. At the same time, I’ve been noticing lately that we’re tackling lots of design projects at much lower levels with respect to budgets and pro- ject scope. These are clients who want pools that will cost less than six figures but who are also in- terested in having the project detailed beauti- fully and designed reliably. Generally, these courses focus on significant works in the humanities, social sciences, and sciences. These courses are relatively small (22 students) and they emphasize class discussion and thoughtful writing assignments. Gallatin students are required to complete 16 units in interdisciplinary seminars. 38 ADVANCED WRITING COURSES In a workshop format with no more than 15 students, the advanced writing courses engage students in a wide variety of writing exercises and offer an opportunity to share work with fellow students and a practicing professional writer/teacher. Some of the courses focus on particular forms of writing— fiction, poetry, comedy, the journal, the personal narrative, the critical essay—while others encompass several forms and focus instead on a particular theme, such as writing about politics, writing about the arts, and writing about one’s ancestry.

As the human race prepared to die-for everyone knew that the final phase of the War would surely exterminate all life on Earth, the fragile lunar and Martian research colonies, and the various orbital constructs-something like a malign miracle happened. A damaged starship-a super dimensional fortress created by the dying alien mastermind, Zor-appeared in Earth's skies. It crashed on a tiny Pacific island called Macross. Its descent wreaked more havoc than any war: there was tremendous damage and loss of life and numerous natural disasters. The human race was compelled to pause and take stock of itself.
