Forvbop-Match-Day-Programme
FORCE v BAY OF PLENTY Friday 16 JULY HBF Park | 7.30pm DEAR PLAYERS, MEMBERS AND FANS, After a historic Super Rugby campaign came to an end in Auckland last month, we are thrilled to be back home in Perth for another night of live rugby. It’s a unique game day for the club, as we welcome New Zealand provincial heavyweights the Bay of Plenty, CEO Mike Rogers, head coach Daryl Gibson, and their entire squad to WA. I welcome back our loyal Sea of Blue to the Force Field for the first time since May – we have missed you greatly! As always, we can’t wait to hear you supporting the team loud and proud tonight. On behalf of the entire organisation, I’d like to extend our utmost thanks to each and every Member and fan that supported us from home and afar throughout our Super Rugby campaign. Your noise on game day and messages of support do not go unnoticed and we can’t thank you enough. This is a special occasion for the organisation, as we continue to build on this year’s success by hosting an international club team on home soil. The Bay of Plenty are one of New Zealand’s top provincial unions. Last year they made the top four in the Mitre 10 Cup and they bring a large number of Super Rugby, New Zealand Maori and ex All Blacks players. Let’s show our guests what the Western Force is all about! Enjoy the game! Tony Lewis CEO, Western Force FORCE BATTLE BAY OF PLENTY AT THE FORCE FIELD Live rugby returns to HBF Park this Friday with an action-packed match-up between the Western Force and the Bay of Plenty. -

Media Statement Date: 15 November 2018
MEDIA STATEMENT DATE: 15 NOVEMBER 2018 FORREST REVEALS RAPID FUTURE FOR SPORT IN ASIA A revolutionary sports and entertainment concept is set to sweep the Asia Pacific region with Andrew Forrest’s new-look elite-rugby competition receiving a critical tick of approval. The World Rugby Council conditionally sanctioned a bold new sporting brand, Global Rapid Rugby, overnight. The 2019 season would kick-off in late February with teams competing for an AUD$1 million first prize. Once official approval is granted by all participating playing unions, a new era in sports and entertainment will begin. Rapid Rugby details that can now be unveiled include… • Eight teams across the Asia Pacific • 14 rounds, 56 games plus four finals • Up to 20 of the world’s best players as competition marquees • A fast-paced, 70-minute total game time • New and revised laws to increase ball in play time towards 55% • A dynamic, viewer-friendly 90-minute total broadcast product • Exciting stadium entertainment at every game, everywhere Global Rapid Rugby founder Andrew Forrest AO described the World Rugby Council decision as an historic moment for the sport, all sports fans and the Asia Pacific. “It has not been a simple road,” he said while commending World Rugby for supporting his vision in a Social Media video announcing the proposed look and feel of Rapid Rugby in 2019. “I’d like to thank everyone that has been bold and brave enough to support this brand-new competition. Like all sports, rugby needs to evolve. The modern sports public is spoilt for choice and demands easily digestible, fast-paced action.” The potential for rugby to flourish in Asia and for the sport to benefit local communities is central to Rapid Rugby’s mission, according to Forrest. -
