Europee, Pd: Per Ogni Euro Speso in Sicurezza Investire 1 Euro in Cultura
23 maggio 2019 15:19 Europee, Pd: Per ogni euro speso in sicurezza investire 1 euro in cultura Il Partito democratico si presenta alle europee con la lista unitaria “Pd-Siamo Europei”, con un simbolo comune per il Pd guidato da Nicola Zingaretti e il manifesto/movimento di Carlo Calenda. I capilista del Pd sono Giuliano Pisapia, Carlo Calenda, Simona Bonafé, Franco Roberti e Caterina Chinnici. Nel programma dem alle elezioni europee si parla di cultura nei capitoli dedicati a istruzione e sicurezza. Nello specifico, il Pd rilancia l’idea di una Carta europea dello studente: “Entro il 2021 - si legge nel programma - attuare la nostra proposta di una E-Card dello studente per accedere in tutta Europa a facilitazioni, prestazioni e servizi (alloggi, musei, teatri, librerie e altri servizi culturali)”. Per il Pd, inoltre, la cultura è un’alleata per “garantire la sicurezza” e “la piena integrazione sociale di tutti i cittadini, a cominciare dai giovani”: la proposta che i dem rilanciano (ne parlava già Matteo Renzi quando era premier) è di “investire 1 euro in cultura per ogni euro speso in sicurezza”. LE BATTAGLIE TARGATE PD IN EUROPA Europa Creativa, importazione di beni culturali, Anno europeo del patrimonio culturale: molte le battaglie che negli ultimi anni hanno visto proprio il Partito democratico scendere in campo per una nuova politica culturale europea. L’Anno europeo per il patrimonio culturale (2018) è stato un successo europeo e italiano. L’eurodeputata Silvia Costa si è infatti battuta fin dal 2014, come presidente della commissione Cultura del Parlamento europeo, affinché venisse dedicato un anno tematico al patrimonio culturale (l’unico organizzato dalla Commissione Juncker). -

Lettre conjointe de 1.080 parlementaires de 25 pays européens aux gouvernements et dirigeants européens contre l'annexion de la Cisjordanie par Israël 23 juin 2020 Nous, parlementaires de toute l'Europe engagés en faveur d'un ordre mondial fonde ́ sur le droit international, partageons de vives inquietudeś concernant le plan du president́ Trump pour le conflit israeló -palestinien et la perspective d'une annexion israélienne du territoire de la Cisjordanie. Nous sommes profondement́ preoccuṕ eś par le preć edent́ que cela creerait́ pour les relations internationales en geń eral.́ Depuis des decennies,́ l'Europe promeut une solution juste au conflit israeló -palestinien sous la forme d'une solution a ̀ deux Etats,́ conformement́ au droit international et aux resolutionś pertinentes du Conseil de securit́ e ́ des Nations unies. Malheureusement, le plan du president́ Trump s'ecarté des parametres̀ et des principes convenus au niveau international. Il favorise un controlê israelień permanent sur un territoire palestinien fragmente,́ laissant les Palestiniens sans souverainete ́ et donnant feu vert a ̀ Israel̈ pour annexer unilateralement́ des parties importantes de la Cisjordanie. Suivant la voie du plan Trump, la coalition israelienné recemment́ composeé stipule que le gouvernement peut aller de l'avant avec l'annexion des̀ le 1er juillet 2020. Cette decisioń sera fatale aux perspectives de paix israeló -palestinienne et remettra en question les normes les plus fondamentales qui guident les relations internationales, y compris la Charte des Nations unies. THE NEW EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT KEY COMMITTEE COMPOSITION 31 JULY 2019 INTRODUCTION After several marathon sessions, the European Council agreed on the line-up for the EU “top jobs” on 2 July 2019. The deal, which notably saw German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen (CDU, EPP) surprisingly designated as the next European Commission (EC) President, meant that the European Parliament (EP) could proceed with the election of its own leadership on 3 July. The EPP and Renew Europe (formerly ALDE) groups, in line with the agreement, did not present candidates for the EP President. As such, the vote pitted the S&D’s David-Maria Sassoli (IT) against two former Spitzenkandidaten – Ska Keller (DE) of the Greens and Jan Zahradil (CZ) of the ACRE/ECR, alongside placeholder candidate Sira Rego (ES) of GUE. Sassoli was elected President for the first half of the 2019 – 2024 mandate, while the EPP (presumably EPP Spitzenkandidat Manfred Weber) would take the reins from January 2022. The vote was largely seen as a formality and a demonstration of the three largest Groups’ capacity to govern. However, Zahradil received almost 100 votes (more than the total votes of the ECR group), and Keller received almost twice as many votes as there are Greens/EFA MEPs. This forced a second round in which Sassoli was narrowly elected with just 11 more than the necessary simple majority. Close to 12% of MEPs did not cast a ballot. MEPs also elected 14 Vice-Presidents (VPs): Mairead McGuinness (EPP, IE), Pedro Silva Pereira (S&D, PT), Rainer Wieland (EPP, DE), Katarina Barley (S&D, DE), Othmar Karas (EPP, AT), Ewa Kopacz (EPP, PL), Klara Dobrev (S&D, HU), Dita Charanzová (RE, CZ), Nicola Beer (RE, DE), Lívia Járóka (EPP, HU) and Heidi Hautala (Greens/EFA, FI) were elected in the first ballot, while Marcel Kolaja (Greens/EFA, CZ), Dimitrios Papadimoulis (GUE/NGL, EL) and Fabio Massimo Castaldo (NI, IT) needed the second round. -

In recent weeks Pfizer and AstraZeneca, two of the pharmaceutical firms the furthest ahead at present in the manufacture of effective proven vaccines, announced that they would be obliged to reduce supplies for various reasons. This news has caused bewilderment among EU citizens, who have already endured months of this pandemic that has caused thousands of deaths and enormous damage to the EU’s social and economic fabric. In this context: 1. In the agreements concluded by the Commission, what terms and conditions apply to the supply of the vaccines, and what dissuasive measures and sanctions were included to protect citizens’ rights and the interests of the EU? 2. What measures will the Commission deploy to ensure that these delays are not repeated in the future, including in the event that vaccines from other pharmaceutical firms come onto the market? 3. -

Question for written answer E-001948/2021 to the Commission Rule 138 Massimiliano Smeriglio (S&D), Pietro Bartolo (S&D), Carlo Calenda (S&D), Giuseppe Ferrandino (S&D), Elisabetta Gualmini (S&D), Pierfrancesco Majorino (S&D), Pina Picierno (S&D), Franco Roberti (S&D) Subject: Protecting journalism in Europe: wire-tapping of journalists as part of the enquiry into NGOs According to recent press reports, Trapani Public Prosecutor’s Office has in recent years listened into the phone calls of at least 15 journalists, transcribing their conversations with their sources, colleagues and lawyers. The wire-taps were conducted as part of an enquiry launched in 2016 into the work of NGOs involved in rescue work in the Mediterranean. The journalists in question were following events concerning the NGOs but were not under investigation themselves. Their sources were therefore confidential and since they did not, moreover, provide the enquiry with information on the alleged contacts between humanitarian vessels and human traffickers, they should not have been exposed to any risk of disclosure and hence violation of the right to freedom of the press and the secrecy of its sources. Any failure to ensure that the relationship between journalists and their sources remains confidential would lead to these sources evaporating and make it impossible for the press to perform its duties to the best of its abilities. Can the Commission therefore indicate: 1. Whether it is aware of this case? 2. What specific initiatives it plans to take, within the ambit of the European Democracy Action Plan, to ensure better protection of the work done by journalists in Europe, especially as regards protecting professional secrecy and journalists’ sources, the disclosure of which compromises the relationship of trust that underpins journalism?
