Lewis, Wilkins, Filippi and Gottsacker Complete Two-Car Veloster N TCR Line-Up for Bryan Herta Autosport Lewis, Wilkins, Filippi and Gottsacker complete two-car Veloster N TCR line-up for Bryan Herta Autosport Indianapolis, IN. (Jan. 15, 2019) – Bryan Herta Autosport w/ Curb Agajanian will debut the Hyundai Veloster N TCR in the 2019 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season opener at Daytona International Speedway as part of the 2019 Rolex 24 Hours at Daytona event. Hyundai and Bryan Herta unveiled their #98 Bryan Herta Autosport Veloster N TCR race car and announced their 2019 driver roster at the North America International Auto Show in Detroit. In addition to unveiling this year’s challenger, Hyundai TCR veterans Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins were confirmed to return to the #98 Bryan Herta Autosport w/ Curb- Agajanian entry while Harry Gottsacker and Mason Filippi will join the team to drive the #21 Hyundai Veloster N TCR. “We are incredibly proud to be expanding our relationship with Hyundai by bringing this all new 2019 Veloster N TCR into the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge for the coming season,” said Bryan Herta. He continued, “We believe we have the most exciting driver lineup in the series, with proven TCR winners Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins sharing the #98 and two exciting young talents in Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker co-driving in the #21.” Bryan Herta Autosport and Hyundai began their partnership in 2018 with a two-car assault on the Pirelli World Challenge TCR class. They found success together immediately with the Hyundai i30N TCR, winning eight victories in 13 races with Michael Lewis and Mark Wilkins, and capturing the Team championship and Manufacturers championship for Hyundai. Transitioning to the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge for 2019, the 350 horsepower Veloster N TCR was designed by the same Hyundai Motorsport Customer Racing Team that developed the championship-winning i30 N TCR. Like its i30 stablemate, the Veloster N TCR is produced at Hyundai Motorsport Headquarters in Alzenau, Germany. The two cars share around 85 percent of their core components, including the 350-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. “The Veloster is a perfect fit for the IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge as we expand our motorsports efforts,” said Dean Evans, vice president, Marketing, Hyundai Motor America. “The all-new 2019 Veloster and Veloster N are playful, fun-to-drive cars, and thanks to Bryan and his team we’re excited to introduce them to racing fans across North America.     Background The OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon has become one of the largest events of the festival since its initial running in 1977. The 13.1-mile course begins in downtown Indianapolis, circles around the world-famous oval track at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway® and finishes at Military Park. The original field of 800 people has expanded over the past 34 years to now include 35,000 participants that represent all 50 states and 13 different countries. In 1987, the race was named one of the “nation’s largest half- marathons,” and by 1990 the Mini had become a televised event. The Mini is now the nation’s largest half-marathon, the 6th largest timed running event in the USA, and the 21st largest event in the world (source: Runningusa.org). The Mini- Marathon is not just a running event; it also includes the 500 Festival Mini-Marathon Expo and the 500 Festival Post Race Party.     2019 IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge Road America 120 #21 Harry Gottsacker and Mason Filippi #98 Mark Wilkins and Michael Lewis Filippi and Gottsacker Score Another Victory for Hyundai in Wet and Wild Road America 120 A lightning storm delayed, then shortened the Road America 120, followed by intermittent rain and wild track conditions, but nothing could stop young guns and Mason Filippi and Harry Gottsacker from a perfect race, which resulted in their first IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge victory. Over an hour-long weather delay shortened the race from 120 to 75 minutes, but it was worth the wait for the BHA crew. With quiet skies but potential for rain still looming, Mason Filippi and the #21 crew gambled and chose to start the race on slick tires. The Road America racetrack is over four miles long, conditions and weather can be different from one section to the next. In addition, it was Filippi’s first time racing at the legendary road course, he had his work cut out for him. The green flag dropped and Filippi, who qualified sixth, dropped to 13th in the opening laps as the still wet track was like an ice rink under his slick tires. He briefly chased the field and then as the dry line developed, Filippi patiently and precisely used his slick tires to work his way through the competition. Strategy became the challenge, as each driver is required to complete 25 minutes of drive time in the race. That coupled with an abbreviated race and heavy rains once again looming on the radar meant that Kyle Compton, lead engineer of the #21 Hyundai Veloster N TCR, determined Filippi would stay on track until the rain returned.

    Elantra Wins at Mid-Ohio, Leads Hyundai 1-2 Finish Lexington, OH (May 15, 2021) –Hyundai’s newest race car, the Elantra N TCR scored its first IMSA victory, just three races into the 2021 season at Mid- Ohio, it also was the first win of the season for Bryan Herta Autosport (BHA) w/Curb Agajanian and Hyundai. The Elantra N TCR is the racing version of the 2021 North American Car of the Year, the Hyundai Elantra. The #98 Elantra N TCR started third with Parker Chase behind the wheel. Racing for his first TCR victory, Chase passed for second on the start and challenged the No. 19 Van der Steur Racing Hyundai Veloster for the first half of the race, battling for the lead on several occasions. Chase made the pass just before the full-course caution halfway through the two-hour race on the rolling hills of Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. “It was a blast out there chasing that Veloster for the lead. It’s great to get the first Elantra win for Hyundai Motor America and Bryan Herta Autosport,” said Chase. “I had a good rookie season last year with a lot of podiums in the Veloster, but it really feels good to get the win, and I think there will be more with this Elantra N TCR, it is a great race car.” The #98 crew took advantage of the mid-race caution to service the Elantra with four tires, fuel and to execute the mandatory driver change. (October 17, 2020) – The 23rd running of the Motul Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta produced fast and fierce competition in the 10-hour event, the third of the four 2020 IMSA Michelin Endurance Cup events. “We are very pleased by the consistent performance and lap times that our tires delivered throughout the entire event despite the big variations in track temperatures,” said Tony Ménard, director of motorsport, Michelin North America. Long green flag stints were the order of the day, as much of the race was run at a record pace on the fast, technically demanding 2.54-mile circuit. Lap speeds on the hilly,12-turn circuit average just three miles-per-hour less than the high banked Daytona International Raceway road course. The 12:40 p.m. race start put the final third of the race after sunset and produced a dramatic drop in both ambient (48F) and track (50F) temperatures for the final hour. Both the ambient and track temperatures swung by more than 20 degrees from the highest points in the race. Always a highly popular event with an enthusiastic fan base, attendance was limited to 50 percent capacity, a goal that race officials said that they met. Chaotic WeatherTech Race Finish While most of Petit Le Mans was run under green flag conditions, the race ended behind the safety car after a controversial coming together between two DPi class contenders and a secondary incident with another car off course.

April 04, 2012 | By Tom Surber Nine teams jump‐started their preparation for the 96th Indianapolis 500 by testing the new IZOD IndyCar Series car Wednesday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Participating teams and the INDYCAR engine group gathered data regarding handling characteristics and performance levels from their Chevrolet and Honda‐powered cars. One car/driver combination from each team was invited to participate. Driving Chevrolet‐powered 2.2‐liter, twin‐ turbocharged V‐6 engines in their Dallara chassis were Ed Carpenter (Ed Carpenter Racing), Tony Kanaan (KV Racing Technology), Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport), JR Hildebrand (Panther Racing) and Helio Castroneves (Team Penske). Driving Honda‐powered cars were Scott Dixon (Target Chip Ganassi Racing), Takuma Sato (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing), Mike Conway (A.J. Foyt Racing) and Justin Wilson (Dale Coyne Racing). The cars were run in the Speedway configuration, with the new rear‐wheel guards that are taller, lighter and have a slightly different shape than the sets being used on the road/street circuits and the oval races at Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway and The Milwaukee Mile. The new IZOD IndyCar Series car will make its competitive oval debut Sunday, May 27 at the 96th Indianapolis 500.
