Specifically, playing pitches provide opportunities for participation in outdoor sports and recreation. Sustaining and increasing participation in pitch sports will help address public health needs in East Hampshire District (identified in the Hampshire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment 2017). Planning Policies There is a requirement for an updated evidence base to support the relevant policies of EHDC and The South Downs National Park (SDNP) Authority (CP17 & CP18) within the adopted Joint Core Strategy to protect and improve Open Space, Sport and Recreation and Built Facilities.
