When the complete points earned are calculated, Dempsey now leads Joel Miller by five points, 354 to 349. The best 11 of each driver’s 12 races count for the championship, however. With the one drop Dempsey is again on top, leading John Edwards by three points, 337 to 334. The championship will come down to the last race, as unofficially the current top seven still have a shot. That includes two other Andersen Racing drivers: Charles Hall and Tom Gladdis. m-o-r-e Andersen Racing’s Dempsey Wins Sunday/Page 2 of 6 To date Dempsey has won more races than any other driver in the series, as he’s been triumphant four times. Edwards has three victories. Andersen Racing’s Hall and Gladdis have one victory each, as does Miller. Andersen Racing, which was won six of the 10 races run so far this year, leads the team point standings by 77 points over JDC Motorsports, 318 to 241.

The time, a new lap record for the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear at this legendary 1.52-mile temporary road circuit at this track, eclipses the old mark of 1:01.978 set last year by… Peter Dempsey. April 04, 2012 | By Tom Surber Nine teams jump‐started their preparation for the 96th Indianapolis 500 by testing the new IZOD IndyCar Series car Wednesday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Participating teams and the INDYCAR engine group gathered data regarding handling characteristics and performance levels from their Chevrolet and Honda‐powered cars. One car/driver combination from each team was invited to participate. Driving Chevrolet‐powered 2.2‐liter, twin‐ turbocharged V‐6 engines in their Dallara chassis were Ed Carpenter (Ed Carpenter Racing), Tony Kanaan (KV Racing Technology), Marco Andretti (Andretti Autosport), JR Hildebrand (Panther Racing) and Helio Castroneves (Team Penske). Driving Honda‐powered cars were Scott Dixon (Target Chip Ganassi Racing), Takuma Sato (Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing), Mike Conway (A.J. Foyt Racing) and Justin Wilson (Dale Coyne Racing). The cars were run in the Speedway configuration, with the new rear‐wheel guards that are taller, lighter and have a slightly different shape than the sets being used on the road/street circuits and the oval races at Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway and The Milwaukee Mile. The new IZOD IndyCar Series car will make its competitive oval debut Sunday, May 27 at the 96th Indianapolis 500. IRISHMAN PETER DEMPSEY TOPS THE TIME SHEETS IN BOTH FRIDAY PRACTICE SESSIONS FOR THIS WEEKEND'S STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP DOUBLE-HEADER AT AUTOBAHN Autobahn Country Club / Joliet, IL (July 24, 2009) – Peter 'The Irish Steamroller' Dempsey, the current championship points leader in the Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear – and the only driver to have won races with two different teams this season, and on both road course and oval – presented his case for being the driver to beat at this weekend's Star Mazda double-header at the Harrah's Autobahn Grand Prix presented by Mazda; turning just seven laps in two practice sessions, he set the fast time in both. Driving the #3 Juncos Racing / HOOTERS / Motorsport Ireland / Queyside.ie Mazda, his quickest lap came in the cooler morning session, a 2:11.681-sec. (97.326 mph). Backed up by a 2:11.992-sec. (97.097 mph) in the afternoon. In the morning he set the quick lap in his second lap on track, in the afternoon, it was on lap three of four. "This is just one more sign of how well the Juncos Racing team is all working together," says Dempsey. "We had a really good test here last week and learned a lot about the car, which made it easy for me to go out and be really fast in just a few laps. It's a long weekend, but we know we've got a really good car and we're all working to keep this momentum going. For me, the main job right now is to get a really good night's sleep so I can come to the track in the morning for the 8:30 am qualifying session and be at the top of my game." In both of today's sessions, Englishman Adam Christodoulou, the only other driver so far this season to win two races – and currently second in the championship – was the second-quickest car on track.

CHANGING HORSES – STAR MAZDA CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS LEADER PETER DEMPSEY SWITCHES TEAMS, SIGNS WITH JUNCOS RACING FOR MILWAUKEE AND BEYOND Milwaukee Mile, West Allis, WI (June 19, 2009) – Juncos Racing today announced the signing of Irish driver Peter Dempsey, the current points leader in the 2009 Star Mazda Championship presented by Goodyear, to drive for the team this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile and test with the team next week at Iowa Speedway. Arrangements for the remainder of the 2009 season are being worked out and will be announced shortly. This weekend, Dempsey will race the #3 Juncos Racing / Hooters car normally driver by Master Series competitor Walt Bowlin; the car will also carry the logos of the companies that helped Dempsey get where he is so far this season, the Irish Sports Council and Queyside.ie. "Last year was tough financially, but this year has been especially difficult; I've been on a race- to-race basis with AIM, scrambling to put enough sponsorship together to do the next race and never having enough money to test," says the personable young driver from Ashbourne, County Meath, Ireland. "It was hard to leave AIM, but unfortunately they weren't in the position to keep me on board for the whole season; they've treated me very well, and I have great respect for Keith Willis. That said, when Ricardo Juncos came to me with this offer, I knew it was a great opportunity for me to carry on my career.
