Three years into British Beatlemania, it seemed as if The Beatles in 1965 could do nothing wrong. The Fab Four recorded and released two excellent albums, Help and Rubber Soul. Both albums proved one certain fact: Lennon, McCartney, Harrison and Starr were improving as writers, musicians, arrangers and ideators with each successive album and showing greater degrees of wit, originality and musical distinction. Similarly, George Martin was evolving in leaps and bounds as one of the most imaginative and daring music producers of the 1960s. By this time, however, there were fans and critics who wondered if anyone, let alone The Beatles, could top the performance of Rubber Soul. He studied at Northwestern University in Chicago, American University in Washington D.C. and at the Peabody Conservatory of Music where he earned a doctorate in composition. He has composed orchestral, band, chamber and choral works. His catalogue includes Symphony No. 2 for Narrator and Symphonic Band "The Lion of Panjshir" (2002-4). Symphony No. 1 for Mezzo-Soprano and Orchestra "Esperanto" (1994-8) VÌt Micka/Kimball Wheeler (mezzo)/Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra ( + Euphonium Concerto) MMC RECORDINGS 2113 (2002) NANCY GALBRAITH (b. 1951) Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She began playing piano at the age of four and studied music at Ohio University, West Virginia University and Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh where she now teaches composition and music theory. He also attended seminars with Karel Husa, Thea Musgrave and Ned Rorem as well as masterclasses with Aaron Copland and George Crumb. -

1 BWTB Annual Mothers Day Show OPEN The Beatles - Your Mother Should Know - Magical Mystery Tour Recorded 22nd August 1967 at Chappell Recording Studios London (1st of two) Abbey Road was booked on this day so they went to another George Martin used studio owned by the Chappell Publishing Co. also in London. Lead vocal Paul The Beatles - Mother Nature’s Son - The Beatles 2 (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Another Paul McCartney solo performance for the “White Album.” Paul remembers writing the song at his father’s home in Liverpool and that it was inspired by Nat “King” Cole’s recording of “Nature Boy.” After the other Beatles went home on the evening of August 9, 1968, Paul went through 25 live performances of the song, each featuring his vocal and his Martin D-28 acoustic guitar. Take 24 was deemed the best. Overdubbing took place on August 20 with Paul playing drums and timpani, double-tracking his lead vocal at the end of the song, and adding a second acoustic guitar part. George Martin’s brass arrangement was also added to the mix. John Lennon – Mother – Plastic Ono Band ‘70 Originally started in England, the song’s composition was completed in California (during the famous “Primal Scream” therapy with Dr. Janov). This particular track explored John’s therapy head-on, and it set the musical and lyrical tone for the rest of the album. George Harrison had a great affection for this tune, as he sang the brief a cappella version during an interview on Good Morning Australia in 1982. -
